Went over to Allan's this afternoon to see his new truck. Very nice!! I hope he doesn't mind a side by side comparison with my truck. Pictures just don't do it justice--it is TALL!

I can say that on my bobbed duece with M105 trailer bed, if you use the stock wood spacers for the bed, the bed will be too close to the fuel tank to replace the in-tank pump or sending unit. Ask me how I know. Anyway, when I went to 1100s I raised the bed even higher and it solved the...
Whenever I return from a drive in my deuce I shift the transfer case into low--it makes getting into the drive easier without having to touch the clutch. Is this repeated shifting of the T-case okay? I don't want to wear it out! Thanks.

Chuck, Stretch,
That is excellent information I wish I had known long ago. Oh well. So, if I can't find any new tag on the dash, does that mean my 1970 AMGEN has all components from 1970? Just tying to understand the system. Many components on my truck were obviously new or rebuilt because...
My truck is missing the glad hand covers. Are they available at a truck store or NAPA, or are they unique to the military? Otherwise, anybody got a couple for sale? Thanks.
Steve
Majortom,

Jon (and everyone),
Thank you for your experiences. The duece is bobbed and singled out, so I hope I can get another year out of her (if I'm careful). I understand about getting stranded (been there, done that!!). But, I also don't want to change it until I'm sure it's broke. It makes no...
How difficult is it to change the clutch in this truck? How do you deal with the tranny? I seem to recall someone using a hoist from in the cab to hold it up.
Yeah, that's what I figured. I pulled the inspection panel on bottom and there was about a 1/8 inch coating of particulate matter all over. I guess that's the disk (or what WAS the disk). You figure it will give some warning before it ceases to engage for good (like slippage)? I'd rather...
My clutch is adjusted correctly according to the TM (ie it has the 1 inch of free play before engaging). However, it engages very near the top of the pedal. It still engages strongly and without slipping, but VERY near the top of the pedal. I'm assuming this indicates that my clutch is near...
