,,,from Indy...
That display belongs to a gentleman from Indianapolis. I bought one of the carts he was not going to restore,as he was unaware that there were (3) type's of the 1917 Machine Gun Carts. Using the manual I gave him,he had to show the judges what these carts were and how they were...
...un-assembly first...
Just a couple pic's to show the condition of the cart I have to restore. Salvaged almost all the bolts and all square nuts. Trying to find this stuff...off-the-shelve hardware and carriage bolts...not too hard. It's going to be the wood work and wheel wright stuff that...
....already here....
Living in N. IN....Amish and Mennenite local communities. Just that most of them will not work on military vehicles. They are loath to do so. Just found a pair of hubs and hope to get more. Need at least (4) more hubs....then I can get the spokes turned and felloe's made...
Not very astute when it comes to wood spoke wheels almost 100 yrs. old. These are for the 1917 Machine gun carts. They are 16-oak spoke,8-felloe,iron tire 37- 1/2" wheels made by International Harvester. Especially looking for the quick disconnect hubs. Any assistance is appreciated...(800)...
...well said,guy's..
Yep...a phd in wrenching is not necessary. However,as mentioned...read and learn. I've busted knuckles on Jag's,Ferrets,FV432's,and never had to get a Brit mechanic. Some people have a lot more cash than this retired vet on SS....if you can pay others to help you....good...
...they just got more...
Did not get much help...but found (3) more carts. Thought that resurrecting the original thread would be better to give a look at what has to be done. Been to VA...again,MN and leaving for TN Sun evening. These are going to take a major overhaul....but just the parts...
Strangely,no one has welcomed you to our addiction...eerrr HOBBY. WELCOME...!!! I have a Ferret (1956) and an FV432 "Bulldog" APC (1965). There is a lack of people who are licensed mechanics for these type of vehicles. Therefore, you've got to either do the work yourself and learn how to maintain...
....may be this...
Just off the top of my old brain...this might be for use on the M16 Half Track with the .50 BMG quad-mount. The half tracks were 12Voltsystems but had a gas generator to operate the quad mount when the vehicle was not running or they were in a combat situation or in an ambush...
....sometimes....
It varies on time-to-recognize your membership. Some guys get on right away....sometimes it take a couple days. Anyway, you made it....WELCOME. I'm next door in Indiana....
...got it...
Got the title...went cross-eyed trying to oggle the vets. If it were me,I'd have given the girls a 'lesson' on driving the tank. Mighty tight in that there piece a' iron. Would have been a real close-up lesson...hands on...you might say....LOL. Yeah...I'm a dirty old man...so...
....crap-shoot..
As with any trade show type of get together...MV show, gun show,etc....it's a crap-shoot when trying to find a specific part/s. Last year there were a few venders who had M35 and some 5-ton parts...just a glancing look as I was not in the market for any such parts. Just have to...
...seen a few....
Concur....it's for the Hummer. They build 'em....or did....right here in Mishawaka,IN. Should be able to adapt it to just about any MV you can think of. Wish I could find one for my M35A1....
....which states...?
Got mine from gentleman in WI...he sold it because WI 'outlawed' them from public roads. He had rebuilt/restored at least (8) of the half tracks before he sold the M16 he was keeping for himself. Here in IN...everything is legal with the proper registration. But full,steel...
...Welcome.
Welcome to the best site for MV's. Might want to search the gov't. liquidation .com site...a major site doner/and where most of the gov't. surplus is sold...many sites in KY.
...that's what we are here for...
WTG....!!! That is a source that will merit further business. Got an extra set of wheels/bogies that I just could not bear to part with. Now I'll get 'em re-done. made my day....!!!
....tracks a lot...
Good vid's and thank you for posting. Always wanted a tank...had to settle for an APC,scout car and halftrack after the M35A1 duce. One of these days I'll find a tank I can either trade for....or....take one off a battle field. Depends on how bad this economy is going to...
