Generator install: connecting different gauge wire

Is the pb-50 limiting me to 50A or the 6/4 soow that I haven't bought yet. Is there a better wire alternative for a cord from the generator to the house? It will need to be about 30 ft. When the MEP-003a really gets cranking (125% load that some folks say) what amperage is it putting out at that...

Generator install: connecting different gauge wire

Thanks for the help. I think I will do just that. The breaker on the panel where the #2 wire goes is 125 amp. I have to change that to 50 or 60 A correct?. Here is a very good picture of where it connects on the left side 125A. Will the new 60A breaker accept #2 wire size is my question?.

    MEP-003a regulator upgrade.

I have my first generator coming next week, MEP-003A made 11/85 with 6 hours on the counter. Can't find a update tag on it anywhere , any other clues to look for if it has been rebuilt? The hour meter looks much newer that the rest of the gauges.Anyway my real question is do you think it would...

    Neutral switching panel

I found the manual for the transfer switch and schematics. I also was told that I can run the motor in the panel with a 9volt battery and make it switch by doing this:" Negative wire to 23 on terminal block inside panel. "Break the positive wire through a switch and connect to 15B on strip...

    Neutral switching panel

Thanks for the replies. It is a MEP-003a and I would only use manual transfer. Maybe a 50amp receptacle on the generator and one on the house. The home already has a Generac 5449 main panel which has an automatic transfer switch built into the panel itself. I think I can switch this panel...

    Neutral switching panel

Would this be of use with a MEP series install or unnecessary?. I am trying to line up what plugs/boxes I need to plug a cord into the house and then take it to the panel. Reliance LL550c plug and a PB50 using 6/4 soow cable with a box outside should work. What do you guys use to get the power...

    MEP-002A and -003A main breaker

Excellent thread .Read it all. I see reference to people rebuilding and testing 30 units here and 20 units there and then selling them. Would someone be so kind as to tell me where to purchase one?. One that will pass the load test without tripping. I see only one in the classifieds and few on...

    Need opinion on eng misfire

Just brought the Deuce out of hibernation for Memorial day and the engine is breaking down(missing) at 1500 rpm with a big loss of power. Any ideas what could cause this condition. It has always run perfect before this. The diesel is not that old 3 months maybe. I know where to look on a gas...
