Right on rustystud, as usual from all I've read. I only bring up the liner issue because they are sinister unless severe enough to be incredibly obvious. Chased one for over a week in the shop. Finally found it by making a fitting and doing an old fashioned leak-down test. Tiny bubbles, in...
Muchas gracias (practicing for excursions). I remember following the Turtle Expedition builds in Four Wheel and Off Road years ago. I think that's when I was initially exposed to the "bug". It had a reeeeeeealy long incubation period. I will read everything they've got. Thanks again.
When I was a baby, and ill, my mom called the doc and asked him what could be wrong. Doc said, Hold him up to the phone and I'll have a look at him. That's kinda what we got here. Cranking is good. If the air temp is above freezing the glowworm plugs are just along for the ride. Kinda...
A brother in the making ? :naner: Check out my other thread - next new guy. Just started the journey. M820 retirement home. "Exit Strategy"
I will also pass on to check out posts by Rayzer (sorry, not good with dropping links yet). His M146 trailer conversion is beautiful.
A suggestion, if I may, another GM "weakness" is the rear drive shaft. If you are going for a bulletproof expedition rig, change the transfer case output to the flange style and have a shaft made with the slip-joint in the shaft. Two purposes : 1- If the rear shaft or any part of it (u-joint)...
When you say, "It tries to start" . . . the engine cranks, but won't start ? Or does it just go, "click, click, click" ?
Many CUCV wiring threads, including diagrams.
Stay after it. Only two reasons a diesel cylinder won't fire. Wrong compression ( bad rings, tight valves ) or wrong fuel ( amount, quality, or timing). Do you get liquid from all the lines when you "crack" them at the injectors ? Sorry if you already answered that.
The "white" smoke is...
That is the plan Another Ahab. Kind of a tiny house that can go just about anywhere I point it. Taking inspiration from Rayzer's Taj build, but with a slightly different tack. Will be updating the progress in Next New Guy thread.
Made the commitment (deposit) to purchase my retirement home M820. After the seller does their things to get it ready the adventure can REALLY begin. :clinto:
red. planning on the 395's also. Was told that with the van body I will lose a lot of articulation and be very tall going to 53s. Just looking for a few more m.p.h. over the 1100 - 20s and being easier to air down and back up without the inside duals on the rear.
Just read through the build...
Punch list :
Whatever the chassis needs to be safe and reliable. The seller is very good about that but I am a total nit picker when a vehicle weighs 27,000 empty.
Super single wheels and tires ( have a few leads, always willing to listen to an offer -- PM please, request not in the thread )...
Howdy neighbor (relatively speaking) ! Any acoustic mass you can add ( mat, carpet, spray on stuff underneath ) will help. Do you have a hard or soft top? Don't forget to add stuff there too. I am also new to this game and the first thing I'm getting is a set of active noise cancelling blue...
No idea about Utah but any state I've ever been in \ through if you get weighed with 30K lbs. on a single axle trailer . . . you'll probably be adding another axle. Are you just gonna let the drive axles from the truck rotate unpowered ?
