Black smoke=unburned fuel
Blue smoke=oil
White smoke=coolant. By white I mean very obviously white. Not gray or a blueish hue.
If you get just a tiny whisp of whitish gray smoke on initial start up it can be as simple as condensation build up in the exhaust stack. If it billows out of the...
I forget the name but there in a test strip you can get that you dip into a coolant sample and it will detect if combustion byproducts have made their way into the coolant. Usually from a bad head gasket. I think it's called engine check but I'm not positive.
Finally completed my seat installation. It's a pair of NOS hmmwv seats mounted to a pair of a3 driver's seat bases. So much better now. I just gotta come up with a good idea for a console now.
My alternater took a dump on me a while back. First thing I did was have the batteries checked. Both were good. I then checked for voltage at the exciter wire. Had 24.5 volts there. Cranked the truck and checked the output of the alternater and I was only getting 24.5 volts. Basically I...
Don't split shift unless you are heavily loaded. It's pointless.
As to tires, I find the large radials easier to deal with than the 9.00-20's. Plus they ride better and increase the top speed.
I'm not understanding some of you guys saying the brakes suck on the m35. It very much has power brakes. What do you think the air pack is for? My truck stops as well as any other truck of its size.
In most cases the deuce has no power steering. But, as long as your moving then it's not...
Depends on the scenario. That extra axle and the extra length of a 6x6 can hinder you just as much as help you. Just depends on where you are trying to go.
Not entirely true. Diesel engines need cylinder temperatures to be at a certain level for proper combustion. Cooler is not always better with a diesel.
That being said as long as you are driving and not idling much it shouldn't be a big problem to remove the thermostat temporarily.
I agree with you steve. I don't see why so many people made a big deal out of putting a bronze bushing in the desplined caps. The axle sits inside the spindle and neither the spindle nor the axle shaft will be rotating. The cap will simply rotate around the axle splines. Nothing will be...
At the very least it will be cool to see exactly what kind of pressure your brake system generates.
Talking about crazy things happening, I have a little story for you that kinda falls under the same topic. I just replaced the hydromax and master cylinder on my Chevrolet Kodiak. I was only...
So your going to come up with a guage that can read 2000 psi and rig it into each side one at a time instead of just spending $60 on 2 new wheel cylinders?
Me and you are literally in the same boat. Air o matic sitting on my shop floor. Waiting to install air dryer before I install the air o matic. Except at the moment I can't get the alternater bracket off of my engine so I can install my 27si. I have found the 3 tightest bolts on my truck so far!
