the cv joint in mine doesnt look to hard to change out, napa sells them fairly cheap i would think with a good vise and a hammer or u-joint puller it would be a sinch tochance out
when replacing the fuel lift pump on the cucv the little mettle rod that actuates the pump must be inserted fully into its little hole to get it to stay up in place put a little wheel bearign grease on the end that slides in
if your going add-a-leafs the individual leafs from a sprung axle of a school buss or 5 ton straight truck, are wide enough and if your using the leafs fro ma straight truck the second and thrid down per pack are the right length ; )
well its a 20 somthing year old vehicle you can either keep sinking money int oit when it needs repairs, or buy another one thats in better shape and use your original as a spare parts truck :)

from what i can tell the 6 month old napa HD u-joint on the ddriveshaft at the trans let go driveshaft went free and grabed ahold of the transfercase and snapped the transmission, i think thats roughyl how it played out wasnt underneath the truck at the time lol
