    Mep-831a

Ahhh now that is a useful piece to see. Sad that I can't bulk charge batteries with it but good to know. Thanks!! Side note: Anyone here have any experience with Spartan Inverter/Chargers? Looking to buy a 24v 2200 or 3300 watt unit. Also experience with diesel truck water heaters? Thanks!

    Mep-831a

I figured I could bulk charge off the slave port but guess not. I presume it’s just tied into the battery then....

    Mep-831a

Hey, Does anyone know what the slave receptacle on the MEP-831A puts out? Wondering if I can bulk charge 24v batteries though.

    Adding a water jacket or water-cooling a MEP-831A

Hmmm....you both bring up very good points- and yes, remember Catepillar ran hot turbos for a long time and they were [supposed] to be wrapped. The ones that's weren't wrapped typically caused some disastrous fires. Anyone have another idea to increase hot water capability and, ideally, cool...

    Adding a water jacket or water-cooling a MEP-831A

Here was the idea- being mounted on the front of my camper, I figured I could then plumb the water to run through a hot water tank/heat exchanger and when the generator is hot/running, have virtually unlimited hot water.

    Stock Alternator M925A2

I wasn't sure. I'm building a camper that is 24v so I figured the ability for the truck to actually charge the bank in the camper would be nice- I've got a gen set too but the interconnect cable would have been nice. Surprised on the reliability though.

    Adding a water jacket or water-cooling a MEP-831A

Has anyone ever considered adding a water jacket with copper tubing and solder(?) or found a head to water cool a MEP-831A. Always thought it would be a cool idea and now that I've bought one (and waiting for it to arrive, does anyone know if this has an aluminum block or a cast iron...

    Stock Alternator M925A2

Good Morning! Anyone ever tried fitting one of those C.E. Niehoff N1609 alternators onto one of these trucks? I haven't seen one in person but from what I found, doesn't look like the size is too big for the hole- but it's a heck of a lot of alternator to spin. Figured I could charge anything...

    FMTV vs M923 bed cover

Does anyone know or has anyone ever tried fitting an FMTV bed cover on a M939 series truck? I can't imagine the bows are all that different but I wasn't sure how the canvas cut might differ. Just ideas here. Thanks!

    Across the country.

It's coming...so I tried tweaking the music speed itself (not enough to be noticeably audibly different but enough to hope youtube wouldn't flag it and that didn't work....I'm out on my ship at the moment but I'll be home from my 90 day tour June 1! I should have the video uploaded very very...

    Across the country.

I packed up my house when I was moving from Galveston, TX to Maryland and went northwest to Yellowstone, East across the Badlands to the Canadian border in Michigan, and then south. All in a good video here...

    Axle Boots failing

This would be a heck of an idea! If someone can work silicone or knows how to I am very good with kevlar/carbon fiber/fiberglass As for driveshafts- I have sealed, not open ball bearings.

    Axle Boots failing

I've got the ball-style axles I think because I'm not sure I'm familiar with "cross type" but they are a set of universals like a cv-joint. Yes packing the knuckle with grease- no I don't have a leak axles (already replaced the seals and I'm happy with that job. soaking belts is a new...

    Axle Boots failing

Hello All! Now I was always one to harp on people that are going to play with their truck in water to put the "good" boots on, i.e. no zippers. I know it takes a little longer but replacing is a good excuse to check your bearings and change the grease- and when you get it down it's a 2 hour...

    Absolute max height of snorkel/davit

Quick Question- 16R20's Anyway have the absolute max height of the davit or snorkel or exhaust (I think the davit is highest) on this truck. The manuals aren't quite right and I'm designing a camper trailer to tow behind (must be shorter than the truck) and I don't have the truck in front of me...

    Dog Bones

Well I should clarify. That includes giving me good cores and I supply ends. That does not include me welding on “safety stops” which I’m happy to do, but for an additional cost. I’ll post over there.
