My 10/68 M-715, I have owned it since 1994 and had done a reconditioning in 1995 its looking rough agian though. I have put about 18,00 miles on it.I added extras, radio, fording, heater. MVPA #2710
I was always under the impression M-211's were 2 speed tranny's , although I couldnt figure how that was possible.
I was also under the impression these were light duty truck trannys in size and capacity? What is the orign of that tranny model, was it unique to the military?
Found the radio installation manual that came with a radio installation kit I got for my 715 yrs. ago. It is for installing the following radio sets: AN/GRC- 3-8, AN/VRQ 1-3,
AN/VRC 8-10 and AN/VRC 16-18, these are the korean era vac. tube sets.I will try to figure how to get it posted on the...
Just a note on the 4hn it was also used in 715 (possibaly m-37also) truck in artic stations for the inproved cold performance. That is why the 715 has that huge battery box w the reversable lid.
Yes the orignal 3 way switch was designed as part of the army's new (in1950) standardized electrical system, which was intended to make all manner of electrical parts an wire numbering common to all mil vehicles, and requiring them to be waterproof. The first design switch had two wiring...
RE: Re: Clamps
Kaiser used its own version of the mil terminal on m-715's an m-38A1's,(you can see them pictured in the respective service manuals) it was smaller and round as compared to the larger square shape of the common mil spec. I beleive it was because of the small space in the...
RE: Re: RE: Turn signal flasher question
The solid state flasher didnt appear until the late 60's before that a mechanical flasher was used it is identified by having a large relay box w/ all the wires attached. It was last used in production on the 715. Back then the mechanical unit was also...

Although the M-38 is my fav m series jeep with all the improvements added to it from the WWII design it was a fair bit heavier and H.P. wasnt on the improvment list, so its not as spry as its older patriarch. That is why the M-38A1 came so fast after, the need for more H.P.
Although it looks a bit faded its good you have the complete top, the bows and door frames are expensive enough but add the complete canvas and your are looking at upwards of a couple thousand if it was all missing. Is it still 24v? I notice the front black out lights are replaced w/ typical...
RE: Re: RE: 1952 M170?
Rapco parts co sells the data plates they are avialable as a set or individually they wont be stamped at all, you will have to stamp in the year an serial # on them.
Yes jeep of Brasil was(is?) a very big operation it was most likley made there, Its not an m-38a1 for sure, it is a CJ-5 hard to say if it was really a military model or if someone just added some of the lights an other items to make it look that way. Im not aware of military vehicle specs in...
Actually the larger style mechanical flasher t/s were used through the entire production. Later in the service of the vehicle it was an option to update the t/s with the newer transistorized flasher design, which was developed as a standard for all military vehicle applications. There were only 2...
After AMC had aquired jeep, AM General produced an updated version of the 715 called simply Am-715 (Am725) all were for export under the MAP program, they utilized the 258 engine and the stock AMC drivetrain, even stock wheels and tires. The Am 715 used a cab which had the 715 fold down...
