I know a great CUCV mechanic in Bloomer! Welcome aboard, there are a few of us around the Ft. Smith area.Shoot me a pm if interested in joining the Arkansas MVPA we do several events every year and have our 100 mile convoy coming up April 30th.
That truck looks familiar did you buy it from that...
Last year at my club's annual 100 mile convoy part of it was through the Boston mountains here in Arkansas.Guy in front of me had an A3 and I was eatin his lunch on every hill in my bone stock A2, I too only run at about 2500 rpms and have never turned the fuel up on mine, I average 10 to 12 mpg...
Good job, looks like fun to me.And people say I am crazy for driving a deuce from Oklahoma City to Ft. Smith Arkansas:D
I bet your butts are still red and numb!
Right you are NDT, it is a Ben Hur G 518.Got a better pic of the data plate delivery date of 2-? 43,the camera sees better than my eyes, anyone know what kind of axle that is under it? Looks like maybe an old Ford from the bearing caps and the wheels. There was an older wheel laying in the back...
Its dark now, will post up a pic of the data plate tomorrow.Everything underneath looks correct, if they swapped axles they sure did a bang up job as the e brake cable is hooked up and it sure seems to look original except the wheels.I can't seem to find any pics of one anywhere.
Also you can...
It is obviously early WWII, still has the marble reflectors, I first thought it was a Ben Hur but it is smaller, data plate says G 516, never heard of one and can't find any info online.
James I thought is was a g 518 Ben Hur, but I guess not.It appears to be a g 516 by the data plate, looks like a ben hur but much smaller, pretty complete and the floor is solid.
I can't find any pics online of the g 516 trailer, you ought to get those 715 beds, if not they will rot into the...
With the squelch in the off position you can tune in local TV stations, used to listen to the price is right and family feud all the time when I was stationed at Ft. Hood.
I that what that cable thingy is for? I always just hold the spare up with one hand and tighten up the lug nuts with the other:wink:
Nice lookin truck!
Agreed, swapping the axle shaft is the easier way to go, just hope the 3rd member is good to go with no problems there.Probably will go the this route instead of changing out the axles.
Drained the pumpkin BFR, no chunks, looks good
That is a possible too, looking at both options, after looking everything over that may be the best route to go.Not quite sure I can do the axle swap in a safe enough manner, and I don't want to go out and buy 1,000 dollars worth of stuff to do it. Just looking for a few pointers from those who...
Well thats easy, when I bought this truck the passenger side axle shaft was missing, probably broke in the field, they took it out to drive it back in and never fixed it.A replacement axleshaft is like 350 used and who knows how much new.I have a complete good axle as a spare, viola!
