I'll probably be doing another trip from Ft. Sill in June when my brother's training is over, just not sure where he'll be assigned yet but I'll keep you in mind. We had planned to spend a day in Little Rock and see the Clinton Library.
One thing to keep in mind I mostly only took pictures of the vehicles, there's tons of artillery guns there on display too. I can only wonder what's in the museum buildings.
We unloaded the Penske truck on Saturday afternoon after the OKC Convoy. For the next two nights we stayed on base in a two-bedroom suite managed by Holiday Inn Express (got to love government outsourcing).
On Sunday we went down to the Ft Sill Artillery Museum, unfortunately the museum...
Unfortunately due to unforeseen changes in our schedule (moves are chaotic) we had to drive through all of Arkansas, only stopping for the night in Russelville.
The next morning we headed to Muskogee to check out the USS Batfish Museum, a WWII submarine, where they also have a few other MV...
First stop major stop was Memphis. We actually parked the Penske truck at the truck stop on the other side of the Mississippi at a truck stop and unhooked the Mazda and drove back across the River.
After heading to Beale Street for ribs and a BBQ pork plate we stopped over at Memphis Equipment...
Here's a couple pics from the road. I'm assuming the oversized tires aren't military but thought they are interesting enough to show. I saw those on I-24 after my sister-in-law picked me up at the Nashville airport.
The M1081, I think, was seen on I-40 heading towards Memphis.
Last week I joined my brother to move his stuff from Ft. Campbell to Ft. Sill. Whereas I didn't actually get to drive a MV on this trip I was able to take lots of pictures of them. Please bear with me as I get the pics uploaded.
Hey guys thanks for letting my brother and I tag along, that was a lot of fun. I'm not an Okie but our mother was born at Ft Sill and I had a great time in Oklahoma and making both the family connection and with you guys through SS.
I made it out of Oklahoma today and currently waiting for a...
Hey guys, we made it to Lawton. We're leaving my brother's moving truck there and grabbing a hotel near OKC tonight since his new place doesn't have power or water hooked up yet. See you guys in the morning!
My brother and I are just west of Little Rock at the moment, we're pushing through to be in Lawton tomorrow. We're planning to be there in OKC Saturday morning to see your trucks!
There was footage of a M109 towing a M105 in the recent "Vietnam in HD" series on the history channel. Check that thread for which episode.
I also came across a picture of three of them in a motor pool in this Vietnam Logistics Report, just scroll down to [226]. You can't see much of the one...
Approximately what time will the convoy get to Pop's? I'll be heading in that direction on the 17th (driving a Penske) and would like to drop in to say hello if timetables permit.
