When slowing down (braking) a M923 will obviously downshift, and this can occur pretty abruptly. This downshifting will of course cause the truck to suddenly slow, but initially your body (and foot) will continue to move forward (Newton's law -- an object in motion remains in motion unless...
This may be common knowledge, but just in case it's not, I'll take the risk and post this.
When I first got my M923A1 I thought the truck downshifted pretty hard -- lunging forward a bit too much. But then I remembered something I read years ago while studying how to drive emergency response...
I greatly appreciate the tips. I'm relatively new at this, but I'm sure y'all can remember all the stuff you needed to do to bring your vehicle up to speed - fluids, lubrication, adjustments, registration, tires, lighting, and any major mechanical issues. I'm finally getting to the point where I...
I have looked at my truck, but I'll look again. I was expecting some type of strap to stop it from opening so wide. Now I'll try to see if I can locate something that looks like that found in the TM.
Thanks Doghead, of course...I didn't even think about the TM. I was thinking this might be an aftermarket accessory or something since it doesn't have stops already on it. I appreciate the quick replies.
All I found is the TNJ Murray listing, but I don't know if it's a bar, stopper, strap, etc., since there is no photo. Any comments on installation are also welcome. Thank you.
I first searched Google and Steel Soldiers but didn't get a hit. This is a simple question, but each time I give a newbie a ride in my M923A1 I have to tell them, "Please don't open the door all the way. It will hit the mirror and possibly move it out of proper adjustment".
Do any of you know...
It "looks" like they would fit, but there is no way I would buy it without being certain it will fit a M939/M923 -- contact the seller. But hey...I'm new to this.
I have a set of good used bows for sale. If you're interested, please send me a personal message.
The TM states, "WARNING ALARM BUZZER is located above left cowl vent." My truck is 10 miles away at the moment or I would simply go look, but I'm assuming they're talking about the vent inside the cab near the driver's left leg. Is this correct? Thank you.
Any advice on the OEM chain pulley for getting lifting the spare tire? Have you seen these as well at Harbor Freight, or should I go with the original?
swbradley1 posted a link to the Nut-Buddy. Below is the description. It's not cheap though...about $150 or more.
Features and Benefits:
Busts loose the most stubborn wheel nuts

Rated output torque: 2950 ft lbs
Two sockets included...
I appreciate the input. This is definitely helping. I was initially hesitant to ask such a simple question; however, now I'm glad I asked. I still welcome additional input if anyone would like to add to this.
I realize this is a simple question, but I'd like to ask y'all for advice. My M923 didn't have the bottle jack, handle, wrench, nothing.
So...what would you do? Would you try to find the OEM components or simply buy a socket, extension, breaker bar, at Northern Tool, etc.?
I have a glad hand...
My last attempt seems to only solve the problem for a short time period. After I remove and clean all the bulb contacts, then start the vehicle, the turn signals initially work. But then it they seem to stop functioning after I turn the lights off, then back on. This is the only pattern I have...
I didn't replace the flasher unit, but I decided to remove all the turn signal covers and remove, check, and clean the contacts on all on the turn signal bulbs again. BUT...this time I also removed and cleaned the running light bulbs. Now my turn signals are working correctly--even with the...
