    Driving the 8x8

I remember how it looked in the fall of 2006. Great work! >2 years of work finally coming to fruition.

    identify antenna pole please?

This weekend was the "ARRL field day", a day when ham rdio operators come out of their secret labs, converted attics, and their half of the sewing room to set up their portable (flexible definition!) gear outdoors and operate it from batteries or generated power. You never know what someone will...

Deuce use - how do use yours?

to generally drive around, to honor the military in parades and other civic events, to pick up women (I did re-upholster the companion seat), to go on impromptu road trips, to hold up traffic in the slow lane, to pull down houses, to 'impend' towards bling-boom cars, to help pushy drivers...

    Missing Plugs? Is that bad?

A little troubleshooting will turn that air-o-matic unit to pure gold when parking. Plus, it makes cool hissing sounds.

RE: Re: RE: Overheating for the third time Call around and ask if the shops do radiators for 18-wheeler trucks and bulldozers and the like. That's the shop you want.

FMTV - you CAN own the predecessor

Hello Kyle, I am rarely out towards Paris, but from time to time.. This year is the great texas balloon race (GTBR) at Gregg County Airport, that is about as close as I am getting this summer, at least in the deuce, and I am considering telling the TXSG that fuel is too much as we have a new...

FMTV - you CAN own the predecessor

I think that was Maxey, part of which is now the Pat Maise lake and a state park. I would not go digging as the other part of the story is alot of ammo was dumped as well.

    RT-524 TM 11-5820-401-34-2-1 and TM 11-5820-401-34-2-2

maybe some day they will un-restrict those manuals. The gear is certainly obsolete, good only for ham radio use and use in historic military vehicles.

    Diesel/oil mix in other vehicles

Is there really any reason I could not add a quart of diesel or kerosene to the full tank of my 2004 chevrolet gasoline pickup truck? I used to do this with older cars.

    Electric winch

I suppose a PTO on the transmission could do for the pump on a hyd. winch? Would it be enough, or is that what you are already saying would be inadequate?

M35A2 Deuce- Small Oil leak when sitting through Flywheel !

I thought my deuce was leaking because of as little bit of oil there, but then discovered it's the normal operation of the undercairriage anti-rust system that comes stock on most deuces.

    Help/Problem with fuel delivery adjustment

The DC electric fan guy was uninformed. The "pulsations" in the DC coming from a air-driven fan are akin to AC, could set up AC current in the DC-operated devices and trip them up, but that is an extremely minor concern because the aggregate of the DC busses contain enough filtration to absorb...

wanting 6 wheels instead of 10

One thing from the D-Day rally - - articulation. If you buy OD Iron's fine wheels and put tall tires on them, keep in mind you may want to limit the rear suspestion travel so that the tires cannot contact the underside of the bed during wheeling. see attached image for aticulation example with...

    Trip to Shirleys Surplus...

Here are some pics from OCT 30, 2006 at Shirley's. Several of the diesel 28VDC gensets asked about in a much-previous post. Note that he said they worked, but since the fuel inlets seemed to have been visited by mud daubers, they could not be immediately checked. I would have liked to have taken...
