When I had that problem I installed the canvas in the track letting it hang loosely over the windshield to keep it in the track then used a wood block and hammer to tap the channel closed a small amount without pinching the canvas. The corners were where it was pulling out and tapping it closed...
I have used Thompsons Clear Multi-Surface Waterproofer on my M37's cab top and cargo canvas for years with no problems, staining or color change and had good results but remove the canvas from the vehicle and hang vertically in the sun before applying, as stated above by Chief-919
Thanks Frodo, Glad you enjoyed the album.
Unless you really want that truck and need another project to take up a large abount of your time and cash, something to think about would be is it worth it, even one with such a low price. Is there some reason that's the one for you?
I went to so much...
I'll add my 2cents, again, if you got that one you are looking a lot of work, time and $$$$, but if its cheap enough and you want that truck go for it. I suppose it just depends on how badly you want an M37, any M37 and how much time you are willing to put into getting it driveable as well as...
Just add up what the individual parts cost from some of the truck dealers and you might find a true value of what's there. Try to find a good radiator for under $100, good luck, fenders not rusted out are getting scarce also. The hood alone is probably $100, with all that's there it might be...
Lifer the T245 and serial number will be stamped into a pad cast into the left front of the block just below the head gasket, not on the head its self.
If the carb. has something like this attached then it has one.

I have the M37 I used to use when I was the small arms advisor to the 29th. Inf. Division's 58 Bregade. It was mostly stripped and I restored it to factory class condition over many years in very part-time work using several donor trucks I was given to save them from the scrapper, I made one out...
Thanks everyone for the help, I needed it. I made a seal driver from the race from the old and damaged wheel bearing, an 8" length of 2" dia. pipe and a steel plate with a hole I cut on the lathe all welded together so it would slip over the axle stub and was able to fit the 26153 seal I had...
98hd, NDT, N1265 and lacoda56, since I am not sure what I need as I have never had this axle apart before, or any Dana, thanks for the responses. The seal I need is for the steering knuckle and I have a Chicago Rawhide seal (26153) but it seems to large to fit although it will fit the bearing...
These are pix of plates that the army put on my truck after it was rebuilt at Letterkenny in 1969. As you can see the manufactures part number was left blank, since the truck has no mounted equipment that was left blank also. The reason they are faded is the aluminum plates are weathered from...
I found that my 1977 M880's Dana 44 was missing the inner oil seal when I disassembled it to replace the bearings and the axle universal joint. Someone had failed to install the seal and I am unable to locate a replacement without a part number. I got the truck from the local city police who had...
If the noise is the result of a dry pilot bushing, changing/adding gear lube would not help. The bushing is ahead of the tranny and pressed into the flywheel end of the crankshaft and can only be lubed after the trans. assy. is pulled back out of the bellhousing giving access to the center of...
