My NHC-250 will drive great, but sometimes after idling for ~10-15 minutes it'll die. Especially frustrating when it's idling so I can run a crane off the PTO. No issues driving.
About 1/2 the time it'll fire right back up if I try, sometimes I can crank away with no luck. But wait ~5 minutes...
Got a battery relocation box for a 939 truck, and need to lengthen the existing supports for it. From some measuring on my truck and looking at pictures, I *think* I need to add ~3 inches.
But I'd rather be accurate if possible, does anyone who has the relocation box mounted know the distance...
Pulled the batteries and the box out. Haven't wheeled the rust out yet, but found out I didn't clamp a battery terminal in tight.
Good news: I found it at home.
Bad news: Battery's only 6 months old.
Dealing with pulling all the wires for accessories out of the box is gonna be unfun. But I'll likely do it.
Wishing the batteries weren't 8D's... Those suckers are heavy. I suspect I'm gonna want to relocate the batteries before this is over.
Also known as "How adding a 2nd fuel line turned into cab floor repair."
Now I need to decide if I want to pull the battery box and see what's under it. Or punt for a few months.
You had all 4 out at the same time?
There's a different install process if ALL the metering pumps are removed. I recall something about a jig in the TM.
Mine fired almost instantly one put back correctly.
Pull a metering pump and manually move the throttle. Use a mirror or your finger to verify the rack is moving.
If it is, put that pump back in and repeat with the next.
That should verify the rack is working. I had the rack bent a bit and it...
What I suspect is happened to the stuck pump is the fuel control lever on the pump has rotated under the block. (My wording here is likely horrible.) Assuming the pump is dropping really close to the block (like 3/32nds above) you should be able to push it down that last little bit and move the...
Well, pictures...
Here's what I'm dealing with so far. Pulled up the floor mat to find that water had puddled and held under it.
So once the doghouse is all out, I'm likely gonna pull the drivers seat and replace a decent chunk of floor plate. Or just weld new on top. We'll see.
What's slowing me down is that the top bolts are all under a layer of insulation from the firewall. I can't even see a bolt head unless I somehow cut some insulation back. But access...
Let me know if you find a secret. Just started, but scratching my head at the ones on the top. Haven't opened the hood to see if "Cut the captive bolts off" is a viable approach.
Have run the truck (M923) to work and back a couple of times this year, but went down to the TrippleX for the military vehicles show today.
Think I picked up more work that needs to be done that any other single day yet.
About 1/2 mile from the location I look at my oil pressure gauge. 0 psi...
Well, that may be a problem for ya.
The sigtronics transcom intercoms are great, but take general aviation headsets. They're not that expensive on fleabay.
But you'll likely need a converter, because military uses different plugs.
