Slapshot,
Welcome. You are doing the right thing by asking questions and getting info before jumping in. Make sure you are able to drive one before you buy, liability is a big deal these days so if you are learning you might not want to do that on public roads. Check the thickness of your...
RE: TM
TM 9-2320-209-20 dated 1965 that I got for the gasser deuce. It has the OA-331 and the multi LDS 427-2 and LD 465-1
I like the older format better, more info on fewer pages.
Yes Sir you did good! Some parts trucks go for more than you paid and you'll probably drive yours home. Then next question is can you get OD fever under control with just one truck?! I'll vote no.
Well it finally happened, my mother found out about the second deuce. She thinks I am certifiable, I tried explaining I needed a gasser AND a diesel but I don't think she bought into my story. So please if your addition has lead you to purchase your second or third MV I'd like to hear about it.
Alex,
I am former USMC so I think I get the jist of your question. I have found the important thing to be finding a good unabused truck no matter what branch of service had it. As you know the army alot of times has better equip than the Marines so which would you rather own? My second deuce...
Thanks David,
The info I got from CW03 is that the truck came from HHC 137th Inf. Reg. in Kansas City. I believe part of the 35th Div. (Santa Fe) ?? I know the gasser came from the 35th the Blue Spaders.
When the gasser gets repainted I plan on original markings. The tan one will get USMC...
It may have been in the gulf war, the best way to find out is determine which units had the truck and then see if they deployed for Desert Storm. If you post the truck numbers there are some guys on here that can get unit info for you.
Can you be more specific on this or have any pics. Driver side window is loose like everyones is. Passenger side will not go more than half way up, what gives or should give? The TM doesn't have much on this.
I didn't notice it was a 66 station, its been awhile since I've seen one of those. Its located in Kansas just south of the Neb. line on Hway 15. Took 15 all the way across Neb to get home. Good road and not much traffic.
Heres a picture of the gasser deuce.
