:ditto: Like in a semi, no need to clutch when you know when the truck needs to shift. Only single clutch on the deuce because it is synchronized.

Kiln dried is best or air dry for one year for every one inch in thickness.

Oak would be the best. White oak if you can because it doesn't absorb water as fast as red oak does. I have a reliable source for both but it is kind-of pricy. You might try to find a local sawmill, he would probably have the best price. You could also use ash if you can find it but stay...

Its really a matter of being able to stop. If you can transfer weight from the towed vehicle to the tower this helps. (like a wrecker does) Also the DOT would have a serious fine for you (with a heavier vehicle in back) especially if any accident occured. I would rather not pay the haul fee...
