The fender is the same except for the inside panel. It could possibly be modified, depending on what 5 ton was the donor vehicle. The tank on the gasser wrecker I'm restoring is the same as the tanks on my M123.
I've already been that route with my M123. The carb is a Zenith 29 series, and the kits are just about impossible to obtain. I had mine rebuilt by a shop in Florida, and it is just like new. I can dig up the info if you need it. My gov cable was broken ,so I just dont use the gov. The part of...
As for the crackerbarrel incedent, I have no idea what you are talking about. Right now, I have a A-frame rigged up on the rear with a chain hoist which I am using to dissasemble the tractor-wrecker. The engine fires on the first few turns of the crankshaft. Lee, if you have any problems let...
FreightTrain- if you and wreckerman are going to the USS Alabama next week, swing by my house and I'll fire mine up. I live only 2 miles off I65. I'll be leaving myself late that Friday morning.
To find when and where to take your test, arrl.org is a great resource. 2M would be good for convoys and rallys, for one thing used 2M mobile an HT's con be found rather cheap. I'm going to put a 2M powered by a 24v to 12v convertor in my M35A2. If anyone ever comes across a PRC-70 or 74 HF...
Yes I could ship, but it will probably be expensive. I'll look for a suitable box this week and get a cost from UPS. There is no wood except a few small remnants around the bolts. What is your zip code?
I have the metal uprights for troop seats in the 2.5 and 5 ton trucks. There are enough to outfit one bed, plus part of another. They are free to whoever wants them. I can take them to Mobile at the end of the month, just let me know. Dont wait too long, I see a run to the scrap yard next month.
Prime mover for the 8 inch howitzer. A chain hoist was used to lift the trails and attach them to a special coupler to the rear of the truck. Those two items, along with a divat which mounted on the bed were part of the BII. The gun crew rode in the truck.
I don't have aM125, but I do have a M123 , which is the same except for the bed and winches. I did a full restoration, so if I can be of help let me know.
Got this M107 at the Alabama surplus property auction in Montgomery on Wednesday. It was made by Fruehauf in May 1954. Aside from the fender and manhole damage, its in good condition. Looks like I'll need a pigtail, wiring harness, and a manhole cover gasket.
I read the stovebolt link posted by jwaller. Mikey says the transmission is "a two stick 20 spd aka quadraplex". Either 1- he hasn't been in the cab and seen the data plate which shows it has a 5-speed and 2-speed transfer or 2- he can't multiply. This weekend I'll try to post some pictures of...
Can 1400X24 "crane service" or heavy equipment tires be safely used on a M123 since the top speed is only about 41 mph? I can get good used ones for about 100.00
The springs are what many refer to as a camelback suspension. It is still used on Mack's heavier trucks. The rear axles are rated at 65,000 lbs each, with a ratio of 9.02:1.
Reminds me of some of the trucks the Army tested back in the 50's- such as the "Rollagon". Crismon's book has pictures of some of those one-off test trucks.
Looks to me like a converted M125 too. Gas tanks aren't stock, but 5 ton tanks are the same. With my M123 , one of the hardest things has been to find good used 14.00x24 tires, in any tread. Anyone know where I might find some inthe southeast?
