it's official! (almost) a proud owner!

I put my deposit down on deuce #186 at Idaho Motor Pool today. Will most likely pick it up late fall. Can't wait! Thanks for all you guys' help in making my decision, it's great to be able to ask all the questions you can before getting in over your head <img...

    M35A2's overseas

yup, she's a beaut! All the options, except drop side bed and winch. I can add those later. Alex said he can single rear wheel it for me to make the trip a little smoother, pull out the rear axleshafts/driveshafts and send me a flange to make my own disconnects off and slap them on when I...

MSRP and registration costs and GVW

hey all, I am estimating my DMV fees and several factors make a big difference in cost- What was the original MSRp on these things? Also, some had said their titles say GVW of 12,000 pounds, others 23,800? Does it all depend on who you catch at DMV and how *naive* they are? The truck...

    M35A2's overseas

I haven't decided 100% yet to get it, I am still making sure everything is accounted for (see my registration question). But, I have my eye on #186 from Idaho Motor Pool. I'd have loved to deal with Joe YOung or Eastern Surplus, but they're just too far away. Alex has been more than helpful...

    M35A2's overseas

of all the M35's made, where were they sent? How many remained stateside versus shipped overseas? How many came back versus left there? Can you tell a specific truck's history by its VIN, or is that a lost cause? just wondering...

    speaking of comp/collision.......

yeah, I figure if somebody who knows what it is and really wants it they'll get it. We live in a bad neighborhood with lots of foot traffic, but if anybody got an idea to take it I think they'd get spooked by all the switches and having no key hole to jam a screwdriver in, and they'd leave it...

single rear wheel max truck width?

I was looking at a diagram, and it showed the bed being wider than even the dual wheels. Is that the case? So even if I went single the bed would still stick out? Also, is the dropside bed the same overall width? thanks

single rear wheel max truck width?

when you single rear wheel the deuce does it bring the overall width of the truck down? If you can get it to about 7 1/2 foot that would be good I'm trying to fit it in a 10 foot driveway but still have room to maneuver it and walk...

    speaking of comp/collision.......

how do you make sure nobody steals your rig if there's no key? I assume the doors lock (I hope)? If not I think I'll retrofit a locking handle at least. DOes the hood lock?

    cheep lockouts

I got to thinking- without the front drive engaged and with the axles not hooked to the wheels, the shafts won't spin, right? Is there a chance they could slide out and contact the homemade flange, or just kind of bounce around in there? Are you able to maybe saftey wire them in place?

    20,000 pound capacity?

I was reading a back issue of MV Magazine on the pros and cons of owning a deuce. The author said you could safely carry 20,000 pounds. Anybody ever put this to the test or should you just stick with 10,000?

insurance- who do you have and how much?

no kidding? I'm surprised. It makes it a little easier knowing that, since when I switch from Country and put the Deuce, bucket, and bikes at Hagerty that leaves my truck, and maybe one of the bikes at most likely Progressive. I had Progressive before but they jacked the rates sky high on the...

    ABSOLUTE max tire height

that could very well be! I did a little more research and now am only a little bit more clear. A 1050-16 has a cross section of 11.4, and overall height of 37 (10.5+10.5+16), which leads me to believe the number is both the cross section AND the sidewall height (or that the cross section tends...

    ABSOLUTE max tire height

what's involved in spacing the axles out more? How close are the 11x20's from touching? and were you able to put 11x20's with the dual rear wheel on each axle or did you need to make them single? thanks!

    canvas size for M35 bed?

scratch the info on the dimensions, I found this right under my nose: http://www.m151a2.biz/images/dimensiones%20m35a2.gif but I'd still like to know the finished canvas size thanks

    canvas size for M35 bed?

I'd bet it's 16 x 18 or so? On my truck I used a 10x12 and rolled up the sides, and plan to do that when I get the deuce (bigger of course, but make my own bows out of steel tube and stretch a standard tarp over) how tall up, measured from the bed rails, does the standard troop carrier stand...
