WD-40 doesn't work any more. They changed the propellant which used to be methane? to carbon dioxide. I have used silicon spray with good results. You can use just a whiff of ether if you are 100% sure the glow plugs won't come on.

I am in the middle of changing my thermostat. I don't seem to have the seal pictured at the top. Also, according to the TM, you are suppose to discard it and replace it. Where do you get the seal? Anybody have a NAPA number?

I will add that the documented problems were at Montgomery when GL's lot got full and they couldn't move the MV into it. They were left in the same lot as the trucks still available to the NG for cannibalization.
