How many miles do you drive your CUCV per year?

Averaging 7200 per year on the M1009 for the last 6 years. Took it on the 2015 Bankhead and the 2017 RT66 MVPA Convoys.

    Manual glow plug wiring

The glow plug card works on a 12 volt system because the glow plug system is a 12 volt system. In the stock CUCV config, the only part of the GP system that is 24 volt, is between the bus bar and the resistor. Once the relay is closed, the resistors and the glow plugs in combination with each...

S-280 Shelter. How do I get Cellular/Radio Reception Inside?

Rule of thumb is: 234 divided by the frequency in MHz. This gets you close to a 1/4 wave antenna length for most frequencies. Examples: 234/27.185 MHz = 8.6 feet for CB Channel 19 234/52.525 MHz = 4.45 feet for the 6 meter Ham band 234/147 MHz = 1.59 feet for the 2 meter Ham band 234/860 MHz...

S-280 Shelter. How do I get Cellular/Radio Reception Inside?

Wilson makes a lot of Cell Boosters. They work well. https://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/ The passive antenna system will work under the right conditions, it's all about the math to get a passive system to work properly.

New 1008 - Glow Plug Resistors Disconnected

Matt, Actually, you are incorrect in your statement on the Cascading GP failure event. Over voltage to the glow plugs will damage them very quickly. I had a CUCV with all 8 plugs good one day and within a week, 3 of them are bad. You are correct with the GP card cycling the relay to help...

    I've got electrical questions (M1008)

The glow plug card bypass wiring is correct. That is actually a light blue wire, it controls the GP relay that you are hearing click. When that wire is grounded it closes the GP relay. The GP card will automatically determine the proper amount of time the plugs need voltage based on a few...

It may be a good idea to clean the connector contacts in the card holder/connector as well.

M1008 Glow Plug Intermittent Issue Any Ideas?

What temp sensor did you put in? The WT3000 is the proper sensor. It has high resistance when cold and a lower resistance when warm. Unplug the temp sensor and see if the Wait light comes on.

That looks like a temp switch and not a sensor. Take it out and put a WT3000 temp sensor in there.

    Glow plug card

It could be on the passenger side, it's not supposed to be there. As Firefox states, it may have been removed, broken or relocated. Pictures of what you have may be of some help to us. At least the card is functioning now, you have come a long way from the mess you started with. Congrats on...

24volt circuit in CUCV fuse block

Warthog posted the info. The picture of the fuse box is from my M1009. Fuse #12 is 24 volts and is labeled so on the fuse box. It sounds as if the radio in question, lost its audio output amp. The RF portion seems to be functioning based on the signal strength indication. But I am not a car...
