Looks great. That is the exact same place I plan to install mine. Did you have to gave the gauge overhang the mounting surface? I wondered because of the depth of the gauge and the metal supports behind the dash.

Installed these little 3.5" Leds (1320 Lumens) to the three holes in the bumper and two as backup lights. Will be wiring them up tomorrow. Just going to use toggle switches on these lights as they are only 18W each.

Installed two newer batteries in the Hmmwv. The old Hawker batteries finally gave up. They had a 2004 date code so LOL. Installed a Solorizer and a bridge plate. I guessed the combined weight of the M998 with my M101A2 would come out at 12K. Anyone have another opinion? Have to have it right...
The 6.5 with the 3 speed but it honestly will be once in a blue moon to haul the trailer. It's mostly a garage to protect the car and motorcycle. It's a 24'L 8'W 7'T trailer with a 5' V nose so I can drive the bike up into the front.

You could go with a 24 to 12 converter or if it is just lights you are looking for you could go with LEDs that will run from 10 to 30 volts. I am installing some backup lights on my HMMWV and I have a pic of the lights below.

You sure it is not gear oil mixed with ATF? I had this happen and it turned out to be the dreaded Vampire leak. The cooler in the transfer case develops a leak so the tranny pumps ATF into the transfer case and then out the breather lines to the pumpkins and Portal hubs and onto the air cleaner...
