I agree with everything rosce said. My advice is test the brakes after a visual inspection for leaks and bad line by making several emergency stops. Get on the petal as hard as you can and do it more than once. Its better to have a failure now than on the road in a bad situation. If the...
When you shut the engine down the governor pulls the rack wide open to try and stay running. It then sticks there and so runs wide open when started next time. I had a tractor engine do that on first start up after rebuild. It had sat for a while and the rack stuck wide open. The engine kill...
Good work Tim, I see you have some little helpers like I do. Dirt daubers keep all the holes sealed up for me. Last tractor I worked on I put the bolts back in the holes to keep them out. Good way to keep up with the bolts to. Tell Miss Pam hello from us.
That is a great price for an un-cut one if it is not rusted badly. In Ga a title is not required on a vehicle that old. A bill of sale, possibley a vin verification by a police officer and proof of insurance is all that is needed. Keep your descripton simple so as not to raise any eyebrows...
I don't know anything about these but I would find an injection pump rebuild shop and ask them. I am always empressed when I take something in and the guy behind the counter says hey, John Deere, or Mack or whatever. These guys know what works on what or will work on whatever.
Over here SS member carnac can usually tell the history from the vin number. That thread comes up pretty regular so just look for it. I don't know if he has access to information on trucks overseas. I asume you have the vin number. If you don't it is stamped in the left frame rail in front...
Yes tires need to be tight. I tow mine with a 5 ton. Coming home from the rally the left front tire blew. Made quite a scene at 52 miles per hour on the inter-state. I was really glad I had a heavy truck towing. I felt it and the five ton veered but I was able to correct and bring it to a...
You did nothing wrong, Dueces do not like to be towed. I tow mine to the Ga Rally but someone has to steer it until I get on pavement. Get off on dirt or loose gravel and you have had it. I did take it real slow with no sharp turns when I arrived this year and it made it OK. Some people tie...
There is a thread with all the info on the Rally. My advice, make that a got to event and go. You will meet a lot of other fine addics who can council you. Tim and Pam are great people and throw a great event. I have not been myself because of the distance but I know Tim and Pam well from...
I dought if it has spring brakes. If it does you can use cage bolts to cage the springs. Most truck stops carry them and they could still be in the storage locations on the cans. Its easier to just back off the adjustment on the cams until the brakes release.
Sounds like you do have some air. But the petal returns by a spring that will pull it right back. The piston returns from fluid pressure from the return springs on the shoes at each wheel. There is a small return port in the master cylinder that prevents the fluid from rushing back and...
You will find this a very family oriented affair. There may be some colorful words now and then but not offten or really bad. Mike keeps it on tract very well. There will be other kids there. Recovery4x4 will have his there and he is as good a Dad as you will find. He also helps keep...
I just fought a fire on my property yesterday with my Duece and 1200 gallon tank. I went through some very rough terotory with no problems but I was driving and taking it real slow and picking my path. Yes, I know the duece is overloaded with a 1200 gallon tank. The trucks primary job is to...
I don't know about that but we had Monica at the Ga. Rally driving her own M109 which she picked up and works own herself. She hase'nt been on much lately. She is really into the trucks.
I have never had a problem but communication is the key. Let them know you are having problems and I bet they will work with you. The only time I had a problem it was my fault. I had done a couple pick-ups at the same base and assumed they were there on certain days. I pulled my trailer...
