Reading is a wonderful thing. As I was going through the Hercules engine rebuild manual I came across the lube system that we have. It's a Scavenging oil system. It all makes sense now!
Okay, today is my Friday, so I did some searching in the libraries here at the Museum. I actually found two books for the M8 and M20. Turns out the oil pump is correct. Still not getting multiple pickup points, but found that it was missing some pieces inside namely, the two seals for the pickup...
This is what I have, the big ugly monstrosity with the two pickups coming off of it is the one that came out of it. The rusty one is one that came out of an industrial engine in a Searchlight generator. So I'm not understanding the multiple pickups. We do not have a manual for it at the Museum...
Does anybody out there have an oil pump out of the Hercules JXD out of a greyhound? The M8 at the museum has had a hard start condition since the last time it was parked. I dropped the oil pan today and found the whole inside of the engine dry. The oil pump is really funny it has 3 inlets on it...
The exh gasses passing thru the manifold are sped up, I think that is why the TT autolash screw came into play. As engine designs were changed to meet emissions, cam/injection timing changed and this effected the brake operation. There were a few brakes that could not be used with twin entry...
I don't know. In the literature there are warnings in bold red that warn of mis match parts and engine damage. I have been looking, but a box of books is still MIA.
The C series is shorter, so, if you left the rear mounts the same you'd have more room between the fan and radiator., That's easy. Not sure about moving the cooling package back. There would be lots of damming to make no re circulation of the fan air.
No, IIRC it requires auto lash, or hydraulic type adjusters. I did look for books, but they are MIA, I don't remember what I did with them as well as some other books I am looking for. PAC brakes were horrible, alot of failures seen with them. They came out when the pat. on the "jake"design...
You should change the air filter due to all the damage to the compressor wheel. All those little pieces parts actually will bounce around in the intake pipe, find their way back into the filter and wedge themselves in the filter media. They Will come out again. If that happens, you will destroy...
I did 3 A1s from Sarco parts kits, came out nice.

johan77, PM me next Monday, that's the day before I go back to the Museum, i'll forget if you do it sooner, and I will look through a parts pile for a spring. I had to pull 4 air packs apart to find a good one the last time I overhauled one.
