Mack tractor on GSA auction in TN

RE: lube trailer in SC on GSA auction The Mack is a civilian model. I hate when folks post about GSA auctions that are going on... I think I just saw the price on a couple things that I was going to bid on go up...

    4X4 deuce offroad

BigwheelBob had no problems with the flex on his bob'ed duece last year in the Uwharrie during a trail ride the the full size Jeep crowd hosted (M715Zone). He had some problems with his Sprage not wanting to engage, but that's a different matter... The shots I took durring the trip really...

Decisions! What to do with M275A2

There is a M36 near me that is just sitting in a field... Guy that purchased it has plans for the axles, but not for the rest of the truck. I've pulled a bunch of parts (mostly engine related) off of it, but the bed is just sitting there... Want me to call him and have him paint your name on...

    What solvent to clean tires?

If you do hit them with a pressure washer, use one with a lower pressure rating or stand a bit further back... You can damage the sidewall with excessive force from a pressure washer that may not be obvious till you have been on the road for a while... There is a warning about this both in...

    U-joint parts hunting

For the price of a new u-joint, I'd go with the replacement even if the old one came apart nice and easy and everything looked good... However, especially if this shaft can be disengaged so that it is not rotating all the time, if everything looked great, you could reasemble the unit and keep on...

RT-524 Radio - Is this a good price?

I'll chime in and add that I've purchased from Pvt Jarhead as well and have been pleased with each transaction (mulitple PRC77's...). I bounce between using a headset with a boom mike (noise canceling) and the handset. Depends on if I am mobile at the time or just sitting in a parking lot...

    U-joint parts hunting

Download the Spicer catalog from thier website and go looking for a part number... They have the entire product line listed by dimension and type... Once you have the number, a new u-joint is just a phone call away from any shop that handles Spicer parts (or cross references to whatever they...

    XM757 frozen drive shaft

Nothing like having the guy who does this kind of thing for a living have a go at it... :) Glad to hear that it is appart... Now, go find something else on the truck to wrench upon... :) (Meanwhile, I am headed out to work on the M817's exhaust...).

    Colors?

Re: RE: Colors? Most of the trucks that I have seen locally (NC) that have been over to the "big sandbox" have come back with a green interior even though the exterior was solid tan (sand) or desert camo... Most of them have been solid sand exterior with 383 green interior and have had hard...

Going to look at a 5 ton wrecker

Re: RE: wrecker I was impressed by how much room was left over in my yard when I got the tipper down the driveway (easier to navigate than with my duece, love that power steering)... Purchase them both Frank, tell your bride that they are both mine, and when I pick up one, just tell her...

Fuel tank ground or lack thereof

Just another think for us to envy about your 8x8, and to learn from for our rides... :) One of the "fixes" that gets posted often on the M37 and M38 forums for faulty fuel guages is to establish a new ground line for the tank sender by sliding a new lead under one of the mouting screws.

    repacking wheel bearings/hub

I heard someone at a Power Wagon rally once tell another person that they should "put some grease in the hub" in order to prevent rusting... With directions like that (instead of specifying a thin film) it's not hard to think that someone might have thought that they were supposed to pack the...

    repacking wheel bearings/hub

I don't have any experience with the M211...howerver, on the M37, it is common practice to smear some grease on the inside of the hub between the two bearing races in order to prevent the inside of the hub from rusting... It's not packed with grease, just a thin coating...

I WANT a pair of these!

I worked on a highway widening project (US17 in Jacksonville, NC) once and we had a constant parade of brand new Oshkosh's running through the workzone sporting "student driver" signs... A little unnerving when you are standing in the road (with reduced lane widths) and you realize that the...
