    M35A2 Front wire harness questions

You could call and ask Eastern Surplus. Though I would expect if they have one it'd cost more than Erik's. https://www.easternsurplus.net/PartDetails/2668/M35A2-Series-Front-Wiring-Harness-24-Volt

    Brainstorming a few ideas/daily driver

Locking doors is easy, and not that this is the only vendor source for them either: http://www.thosemilitaryguys.com/truck-locking-door-handle-kit/ However, the internal door mechanisms aren't known to be very robust, and the door glass is somewhat easily broken. It only stops the casual and...

    M101A3 mods for Jeep/off road

I'm of a different camp. Cut it up, mod it, its yours. Make it fit your needs. Your time, money, safety, enjoyment is worth more than a trailer or anyone else's opinion. On the other hand, due to prices in your area, if you can sell it and make a nice profit so you can get a narrower trailer...

    West bound!

This thread title was disappointing. True, a westward direction is being traveled, but I was expecting traveling OUT WEST. You know, to at least two more states, or the Rockies, even better, most of the way to the west coast. The Western US population of MV enthusiasts could use the whole...

So, what's the one thing you'd change?

With the addition to the "Thanks" and "Thanked" counter to the member profile on left column, it has garbled up the Feedback score. Here's a screenshot of my profile to the left. Notice it says "Thanked 1,220 Times in 571 Posts30". I'm pretty sure that the "30" should be on the next line after...

    Deuce startup!

Nice acquire there Robself! See the Facebook page link in my signature for Utah locals. I know of at least two forum members, "red" and "wadefreedomvehicles" down in the Lehi/Orem area that have M39 series parts for sale!

    North American P-51 Mustang

And from here you can calculate the scale. The original wingspan was 37 feet (444 inches): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_P-51_Mustang The model is 29 inches. So about a 1:15 scale. While that *IS* cool, it's pretty plain jane for my tastes and given the price. No paint or...

Had a Buyer for my Deuce...Then..NO GO!!

You flush the lines by excessively bleeding at each wheel cylinder. You can do this with someone else manually pumping the brakes, or make a "power bleeder" from a weed sprayer. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?3229-Deuce-Power-Bleeder-R4x4-Style

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

Thanks for following up. That is just really neat work. I'm always impressed that the mounts and lift points hold on the equipment. It's like watching those "found" tank extractions from a deep bog or mud. I sit there and am amazed that the recovery/winch/lift point held.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My suggestion is to put something between that wiring harness and the sharp edge where it passes through the firewall! One day that'll wear through and do a lot of damage to the harness, batteries, and potentially more. Other places the wiring harness likes to wear (and at least one member has...

Had a Buyer for my Deuce...Then..NO GO!!

I just do one axle end at a time and use a commonly found 6 ton jack stand to hold the axle end. It's the same jack stand I use on my civilian pickups. I leave the bottle jack there too, with slight pressure as my back up, but the axle is primarily held by the jack stand. I forget the brand...

ooo NIIICE! That's on my future list, a fuel tank skid plate! Though the second fuel tank looks nice ;)

    "Rescued" M816 Wrecker

I thought it was theft deterrent. :-P Unfortunately, that won't help you from the metal scrap thieves when they find the place.

    Brake Temp Fix Advice

That spring should attach to a thin, flat piece of metal retained one of the bolts on top of the king-pin plate. It's just to allow the brake line to move when steering, but to keep it away from quickly rubbing through on the tire, getting smashed by the steering stop bolt, or other hazards.

    Tire/wheel options for M105a2

I put Goodyear G177's on my M105A2. I was able to reuse my wheels and it matches my M35A2, and thus, again, can share the same spare tire. The sidewall on the tires is so strong that when the trailer is empty, the tire will not have full tread contact with the ground. I stopped airing down at 20...

    Valence's 1960 Pioneer Tool Trailer

Honestly, even though I know they'd had a number of interested potential buyers, no one was going to travel to their remote location with another trailer to winch this one on and haul home, and who would be willing and have the right set of tires and wheels to bolt to it and tow it home? Only...

    Valence's 1960 Pioneer Tool Trailer

Well, I've done it again. :shrugs:  I had been watching a local ad for a larger, newer style Pioneer Tool trailer. I think it had been for sale for the past 6 months. Probably their first snow fall judging by the pictures. It was in a pretty isolated section of northern Utah, past Park...
