    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

No lithium. Circulating heat down to the batteries is not all that difficult…

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Yea I am putting that tank under the bed or couch/bench and elevator bed platform to gain a little more useable living space. I am going to keep the batteries down on the chassis, so the concept of getting the tire down onto the chassis REALLY appeals to me, even at the cost of 10deg of exit...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Was re-visiting the spare location as it is getting close to time to make those final design decisions. If I am willing to lower the rear exit angle to 30deg, I can get the spare tucked up under the rear end, with all its weight suspended from the main truck frame structure. In a captive...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Typical ag/light industrial hydraulics run under 2500PSI. The cylinders are sized to deliver the required force within the max system pressures allowed. I think those are about 2.5” cylinders, with a 1“ rod? With 2500PSI, they would push with 12,300# and pull with around 10,300# of force...

LMTV M1078 not building air pressure

Yes they can be rebuilt, I seem to recall one of the vendors here, perhaps Superman, having the diaphragms. If you are confident in your understanding of what needs to be done to restrain the beast, it is not that complicated. But it is one of those evolutions where a mistake can kill you and...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

That sounds like low fluid. The hardest part of the lift is the first 1/3, so every seal and fitting is at it’s highest stress before that point. Above about 1/3 it gets significantly easier. TheAOP is up between the air filter and the spare. Its filler plug/dipstick is toward the front. The...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

The tire is just so dam bulky:) The space between the leaf springs is only 40”, I think you will have a problem fitting the spare up over the driveshaft anyway. I was looking at an idea to put it on an angle up under the rear and still keep it inside the exit angle, but that was also...

LMTV M1078 not building air pressure

I did a video showing how to bypass all those 2ways… I also explain a little how all the different air supplies/parts interact.

LMTV M1078 not building air pressure

Both front glad-hands must be vented. If the red one isn’t , it will store air and prevent you from engaging the park brake. If the blue one is not vented, that will store air and cause the service brakes not to release when you let off the pedal… it is dead easy to bypass the 2way check...

LMTV M1078 not building air pressure

While you are looking at the wet tank you may notice it is plumbed incorrectly on the A0. 100% of the dryer air should flow thru the wet tank on its way to the brake tanks. On the A0 they Td the wet tank off of the dryer output, so only maybe 25% of the air used by the brakes ever sees the...

LMTV M1078 not building air pressure

Well if you are putting air into the wet tank directly, you can do a few things to eliminate where it might possibly be going. On the side of the wet tank toward the rear of the vehicle there is a protection valve that feeds accessories(looks like a pressure regulator). It stops airflow out of...

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

I don’t think the ring, gun and ammo weigh as much as a tire… and even with that weight, they add a cab support strut to the windshield center. You are also not trying to remove the ring, gun and ammo(gunner doesn’t count:)) alongside the road on a dark and stormy night with a crane you need...
  13. R

    Alternative hydraulic hand pump.

Things start to get complex when you start to move weight up… That is a large bulky tire, about 350#, that you now must lift, move horizontally far enough to clear the cab then lower now at least 10’. lot of added stresses with overhung loads, and the design is critical. This is not even...

    A0, A1, A1R and TM's

The squared out shroud was originally configured to enclose and protect the hydraulic reservoir on the winch trucks.

    A0, A1, A1R and TM's

Yea I think that is exactly what they did. I suspect S&S did the same with the A0-A1, as I have ran into quite a few who have “tween” trucks…

    A0, A1, A1R and TM's

yea think I only have seen the wtec3 version schematic, don’t recall any reference to the other transmission.

Does Cat C7 have major problems that plagued legacy Engines of FMTV/LMTV family.

Unless you are parking in Siberia during the winter, you don’t need that much battery(four 6t/two8D). A pair of the 6TL, or a pair of group 27 or 31s are plenty of power for the engine, and are a much better match for the 100A alt… If you properly size the battery bank, the 100A should run you...

LMTV M1078 not building air pressure

what model/version trucks? is it making any air at all? If it is I would connect shop air and first look for leaks without the engine running. Way easier to find that way. without CTIS controller you can inflate with a pair of jumpers. H in the connector is 24V. Place a jumper from H to R...

    A0, A1, A1R and TM's

I have a friend who has an R(coil springs and all) and his has a 3 control panel. They were kind of sloppy with their version changes weren’t they:)
  20. R

    A0, A1, A1R and TM's

Well the MMDC and the 4 relay boxes indicates an R’s wiring but that unsprung shock does not indicate an R chassis, so you do appear to have a tween truck. Based on the 4 box PP I suspect the R wiring diagram does apply to you though…
