Awesome, I wasn't that familiar with his rig like others are.

Make sure you get the right UOC for your truck, the TM calls for two versions:

HMMWV Hood Lift gas shock - anyone MADE one?

. You may want to install the damper with the rod facing down, and the cylinder on the upper part to get more life out of the dampers... That should keep the seals wet and the rod lubricated. IMHO Other than that, outstanding workmanship.

Sound deadening, sound proofing - which have you done and what are your results?

Trying to do some research on sound proofing / sound deadening, best practices, areas to pay attention to and what to avoid. A preliminary search brought up some posts here on SS and online, but really no comprehensive collection. For all those that used Kilmat, Fatmax, Lizard skin, Dynamat...

    It's alive!!!

Thank you, I just couldn't find this one even after almost an hour... This helps tremendously. But it looks like I needed the line nut torque and didn't know it, so you saved my bacon. 20 lb-ft it is for that.

    It's alive!!!

Little update on a minor disaster averted (not by me but by luck). While out and about last weekend ( https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/out-and-about-with-my-hmmwv.201914/post-2588544 ), and back home we noticed a leak of clean and clear fluid, that did not have a diesel smell, dripping from...

    It's alive!!!

I got my used, new to me S3 box and new TSU. Installed them and they worked like designed. Turned to run, voltage dropped upon plug light coming on, raised upon light turning off, and stared immediately whilst 55 degrees in the garage. Last time I started it, it took a good 10-15 seconds and...

OUT AND ABOUT WITH MY HMMWV

. The Black Hills are considered holy and sacred by the local Native Americans, the Oglala Sioux tribe, and Lokata, Dakota and Nakota tribes. There is something very magical and mystical about this place. Dances with wolves was filmed here, and Kevin Costner fell in love. If you ever make it up...

OUT AND ABOUT WITH MY HMMWV

We took the truck rock crawling yesterday, in Piedmont trails in South Dakota. A 3.7 mile trail took about 1.5 hours, a lot of it was crawling speed. Nice views from 2/3ds from the top of the hills: But when I came home, we noticed a leak in the front right brake area, needs investigating...

    It's alive!!!

. That is great info, thanks good Sir. I was able to purchase a used, but guaranteed working S3 unit with matching TSU. When it gets here and I am able to test, I’ll post about it. I will review the instructions and maybe build a spare unit. Thanks for the post.

    It's alive!!!

. Good advice, been thinking in along those lines. Thanks. Besides the newest ESSS, which is most reliable in your opinion? Any model stand out over others? I appreciate all info and opinions. EDIT: 'Been considering the manual boxes talked about by many members here, but would like to stay...

    It's alive!!!

I've been able to find some more info on this EESS box. It seems to be Prestolite or Ametek with P/N 12446779. It also seems the TSU is correct for htis box. What are the chances this can be fixed? Does anyone have a step by step guide? I see no burn marks or other obvious damage:

    It's alive!!!

Hey all, just to pick up where I left off a few weeks ago, my symptoms are Glowplugs are not being fired. Wait light comes on for 5-6 seconds, hard start now that the temperatures dropped from the 90s to the 60s and 70s, lots of smoke, no voltage drop when turning to run during the wait light...

    Transmission issue?

Yes, you are able to make adjustments just with a digital voltmeter or multimeter. You will be piercing the wires behind the connector. There are certain values for resistance, and also for voltages while you have a 16mm block installed IIRC. You can find the steps and values in the...

    Transmission issue?

. I've had similar symptoms when I first drove my M1123, 6.5L non-turbo with 4E80E transmission. Some additional steps AFTER you follow Mogman's steps, check the transmission wire harness plug at the transmission, mine had residual transmission fluid in it from an external leak. Disconnected...

    Civilian part numbers

Hey all, I thought to start a thread outlining information for parts for all HMMWVs, from the civilian market-side. It would most likely be super beneficial to the community if you would post a find for a GOOD and QUALITY part, maybe part # and cost of substitutes from civilian Companies...

    Tie rod end help

. For sure. The TM explains in detail how to position the clamps, including cautions to avoid damage to equipment. You are correct, good Sir.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

. I don't have hard doors, but I know the C Pillar is more curved at an angle than the A Pillar. Is that why you have such a gap? The hard doors look straigher than the soft top doors... Just MHO
