Welcome to the addiction...from another 5-T gear jammer deep on the west coast...someone's got regulate the driving-impaired out here.
Can't wait to see pics (if you heard already...we are a visual lot 'round here) of that 915 when you get one. To quote a great philosopher...
"You ever ride in...
Correct on the weight issue. Rent a commercial Ryder-type (sorry not a shameless plug) truck (see pic, similar to what I used) with the following...GVWR 26000lbs+, standard transmission and air brakes. That gives you the weight and keeps from getting standard shift and air brake restriction...
I have to say that is one cool lookin' 818[thumbzup][thumbzup]:grd:!!
The cab, the flatbed, the camo job. Now that's a job well done. Did the truck come with radials or did you get those later? Looking for a set myself.
Almost forgot...
Interior shots....nopics
Isn't it funny how it is the ones with the big, bad, old, smelly Army trucks that...WAIT for it....
PRACTICE PEACE AND RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Hmmm?
With my M-1, the 88 crew had just thrown me the slave end. We were sitting on an angle coming up out of a river crossing. I just remember it all being in an awkward position. I threw the cable end toward the uncovered tank's receptacle and the center pin (missing the insulating plastic...
Single pin slave cables are pretty idiot proof. After all, they are made for "Bubba" to operate. But, like said before, they will arc. I have seen them arc on my M1 back in my Army days. Scared the crap out of me.

The good Lord...
:ditto:The only time I regret owning my truck is when I have to pay my storage fees. A quick spin usually remedies that. The simplicity and size of these trucks get under your skin and there is no turning back. They're just a straight kick in the pants to have. Most folks get a kick out of...
Eldgen...so this is the monster the LED eyeballs are going on??? Haven't been following this thread, but that is nice! I like the 817 bed with racks.[thumbzup]:grd:
By all means, restore that ole' flat grille. They were a dime a dozen at Ft. Hood back in the mid '80's. Now those old girls are not easy to come by. Nothing like a 5-Ton that whistles while it works. Send me a PM if you want some near new taillights for it.
Ask and one shall receive. Installed on my 5-T. Yes, it works. Made the bracket myself from aluminum rectangular bar stock and the light came from Erik's. I tapped into the taillamp circuit.
Whether the truck legally needs a license plate light may very well be open to interpretation...
I said to the particular LEO, if you see a desert sand 5-T drive by you don't even think of grabbing for that light bar switch. He has seen me driving around several times and just waves to me.
