Those are awesome seats but my little legs would dangle. LOL
Given that the OEM seats are below the engine cowl, I'm not certain that I could reach the pedals if the seat were as high as the cowling. But air-rides would be pretty far up there. Would be nice, though (if I had human sized...
Actually, yes there are. I've seen off-road cars with airflow from a pumper hooked up. I've seen some cheesy looking slip-on kits with little fans (seemed like a quite uncomfortable design). And I've seen some very elaborate ventilation systems.
Just a few random grabs from FleeBay:
*just add compressor bracket and have a fab shop modify it
A/C KIT RD BackWall EVAPORATOR R-2400-0 25.000 BTU 12V
$836.00
A/C KIT UNIVERSAL REDDOT EVAPORATOR R-2400 25.000 BTU 24V HUMVEES NO COMPRESSOR
$899.78
A/C KIT UNIVERSAL UNDER DASH...
Yes. Well, sort of.
I have a revision for the A1 thru 2003.
Unfortunately, I think it deals mostly with the 3126 implementations and not the later C7 but I have yet to do more than scan a few .pdf files. It must be installed due to the search software and how it hotlinks images and diagrams...
Normal.
My 2008 A1R does the same.
When I got my first truck the previous owner told me to 1) always be at a stop, 2) never shift directly between D and R (proper operation is D>N>R , R>N>D). I've always been in a habit of that, but still noticed that my new truck does in fact hold on it's...
Agreed.
The size requirement of the evaporator (one reason the Gen1 AC units fell somewhat short of comfortable for many) is larger than a auto or pickup. But the LMTV requirements are not any larger than most highway semi trucks, so I use that as a basis. The HMMWV evap is big (huge) but...
If you really wanted to get fancy you could build the sheet metal cabinet for a Gen3 and slap the existing heater in there as well as the guts from tn HMMWV blower/evap unit. A few plastic vents off FleeBay and BAM !
A DIY Gen3 for around $1000 total for entire system.
Hmmmm
Someone needs to post the bracket design in CAD format. Any fab shop could make one up. If I get a chance before my other truck sells, I'll pull the bracket and do just that.
I'll also document the simple process of modding a generic Red Dot bracket found from any parts source.
I'm sorry...
I've seen those Red Dots offered on the civilian market. They go for more than double what you paid (Global has been out of them for months). That is just the interior cab kit, if I recall.
Another option (what I'm looking to do on my new truck) is to keep the stock heater and add the AC to...
I'm actually running the A1-R seats. They were changed to a suspension seat design opposed to having a steel plate under your butt. They are quite comfortable and I honestly won't be changing a thing. But the OEM seats prior to these were rubbish and feel like brick as I'm sure you know...
If you're on FB there is a group that has a number of posts regarding seats and custom installations:
"LMTV MTV Military Trucks" and search for "seats"
That should be correct.
I looked at those as a direct replacement for the OEM. Fortunately, I didn't need to get one yet as my issue was resolved by Andy sending me a takeoff plunger to rebuild my old one.
I suppose you could still make it on/off/automatic with a 3-way toggle switch (same...
