Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

Don't overlook an important point...this system requires a variable displacement piston (or some vanes) pump, pressure compensated, and is not a positive displacement (gear) type pump. Unless that OEM pump comes from an FMTV or HEMTT, it ain't gonna work. I'll grab the pad and go take a photo...

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

It will be a couple days before I'm back into this. Thank you very much. I hope it helps with your project too as there are safety interlocks that make this a more complicated swap than first impression. I have the chance to get an M977 Grove from Grendel and bring it here on the trailer...

Bad Bill for Title Military Surplus Off Road Moves to Virginia Senate

Just to throw this out...I have a dump truck, an m929 that I use occasionally around the farm and within maybe 20 miles. I didn't buy it for parades and I'm not using it commercially. It's use is occasional. You should have a farm designation also, that while restricted, recognizes these...

Best Rear Spring Option for Bobbed Deuce

I'm working on this now myself. 3" makes it level to sagging. 4" has a bolt mount issue but would be level and 5" is rear high, but will (probably) level with a load. If you are using the 105 springs and perches the top bolt mounting to the frame is an issue. Check measurements to see...

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

Rain...in sunny California??? Just kidding. Much thanks for your help 8madjack. Gringletaube provided a very useful link in this thread: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?157838-Crane-info/page2. I found the schematic on page 811 and some other useful info before that. But I...

A3 wheels on an A2 Deuce mounting ?s

I have the Henderson beadlocks for 11" x 20" wheels. Too bad we are so far away.

    Crane info

Thanks G....Page 811 seems to have the schematic. I had searched until the pages were all blending together and in some old posts, the links no longer work. It helps a lot. There are some surprises...no pilot operation of the brake, it's full line pressure. What I thought was a pilot line in...

    Crane info

I have a couple of questions to ask the experts here. I have a winch that I thought was from and LMTV crane and was corrected, it is a Grove Crane, probably an M977 that was on the early HEMTT's. To me, it appears they changed the outriggers, but both the LMTV and HEMTT had a nearly identical...

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

I am still looking for hydraulic schematics for the crane winch. I have taken the winch completely apart, including the brake unit and put in new o-rings. I found the brake wet clutch pack has three chambers that oil goes in and there are 1/8" ports for them. One makes the pressure on the...

A3 wheels on an A2 Deuce mounting ?s

Yep. A3 wheels are considered "metric" and have a slightly different profile at the bead. I don't know if the bias tires you have have that same profile or not. It would be easy enough to make a cardboard profile and see if they are about the same. You may be really good with ether to seat...

A3 wheels on an A2 Deuce mounting ?s

I think you may have problems getting them to seal the beads without a beadlock. Good luck.

A3 wheels on an A2 Deuce mounting ?s

Are you using beadlocks? I use the big bore Haltec on the A3 wheel. You can use the short valve stem for the back but I think it takes 5" to get out the hole when it's dish in (front). Why do you want CTIS covers?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks sandcobra. I'll give him a shout. Yes, the simplicity of doing it with the entire hub is obvious and like you said, you packed it with grease and have a well thought out "fit" for the (not rotating) axle shaft into the rotating hub. When you have some more miles it would be nice to...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks for the measurement. I wanted to see if there is a standard spline that size. I thought it was the 1.70"-16 tooth so I would have been off. I've thought of this many times for my trucks. I made a design for a flange and steel air tank cap for the purpose but never carried through...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Will you please measure the spline diameter? I see it is 16 teeth.

M322 trailer from Manchester, NH to Rochester, Indiana

Wes....I sure wish you could have done it but to complete the purchase, I had to have shipping arranged. I had an acceptable offer on u-ship for March 2-5. Thanks, Toby

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Let us know how much different it drives. I was thinking of using the cap, but making an insert that can be taken out that would provide the locking by just removal, but not of the entire cap, just the insert part and a couple small bolts, holding the inserts outside plate. I would buy a set...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks...but the budget is already blown trying to buy a members trailer and get it to Indiana. Now if we could talk trades....hmmmm.
