M322 trailer from Manchester, NH to Rochester, Indiana

Sent you a PM Wes. If anyone (not too far from Rochester) would buy Grendel's M977 Grone crane and can tow the trailer with the crane back safely.... and bring me the trailer....you can have the use of the trailer to haul the crane.

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

Okay. Post up some pictures when you get a chance. If you come up with a hydraulic or electric schematic, please post it.

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

It looks like the same crane. Grove cranes came on the early HEMTT. They replaced them with a HIAB, which is probably why the Groves are available. Safety interlocks will be some of the hardest to adapt, but it has been done. I just found a thread with a deuce with one that may have good...

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

There are a lot of threads on the MHC 977 Grove crane. Here is one useful post. I noted the HEMTT system is usually 2500 and maxes out at 3000. "My tank holds 20 gallons and it uses as much as 1/2 of it when everything is fully extended."

Fmtv crane maintenance manual, hydraulics specs?

I think what you have is a Grove MHC 977, like Grendel has. They are off of early HEMTT's . It's too heavy for my deuce project. Quote from one post; "Grove made the MHC977 as a government contract unit speced out by TACOM so there are no Grove parts manuals or handbooks for it."...

Maryland doesnt want me to own a Deuce!

Some interesting reading on the subject; http://everyspec.com/MIL-STD/MIL-STD-1100-1299/MIL-STD-1180B_22183/ Also not long ago I read a specification that says the trucks are made to DOT specs...can't find it now but it was on a "title" thread, I think Ohio.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I owned a weld shop for about 4 years. We used to repair al dump trucks with the tig and nice thick plate. That was some of my best welding days too. Yep "purdy"...but if I was going to have a burn on exposed skin, it was behind the tig in the back of an alum. bed . My collection includes a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

No matter how good we are, there is always someone better.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I'll venture a guess yours (98G) is on the right in photo 5 and mos68x is on the left. Porosity vs. none + enough metal. Certainly not everything needs full strength welds, but apparently this part does. My problem is consistent overhead...actually I'm not going to claim to be an expert in...

Needing a little help deciding some truck things

I have to agree 98G. The 250 has a better low end and the duals are stable. I always knew the 817 front was pulling when it needed to, so no complaints there. Overall on and off, the 8.3T is nice and I found the 395 Mich XZL is a lot more stable with a load than the GY AT-2 14.00's. How...

Needing a little help deciding some truck things

The M931 is rated to a 55K# trailer. Otherwise PP is right about being over on the axle.

    5 Ton bed trailer

I've been exploring some combinations with the 105 axles, including using them tandem, singles and duals. I wouldn't use the springs as they are, I would build an equalizer for the center. Also, I would put them just a bit further back to keep more load on the pintle. Here is something...

    M931a1 crane and dump

Lowering the boom while having it straight with the truck might be hazardous to the back of the cab.

Grove Crane Winch for HEMTT's, MTV's, LVS and PLS.

    GROVE crane winch I've reassembled each section about 3 times now. Since it's apart, it gets new o-rings for the piston and the case. Cost of 6 o-rings $8 and a few days. They are (2) 6" OD x 5 3/4" x 1/8", (2) 6 1/4 OD x 6" ID x 1/8" and (2) 3/32" x 6 3/4" OD, all are 70 duro. There was...

    M931a1 crane and dump

You need a picture of the top of one of the valves. The industrial valves have a flow diagram on top. If the pressure (P port) shows a -T, it is blocked. If it shows the P port connected to tank, then it's a positive displacement. A hydraulic schematic for the crane would help a lot. What...

    M931a1 crane and dump

Sounds like a great project. Figure the volume of the cylinders in cubic inches (pie R square x stroke in inches) / 231. I'd have at least 2x the total volume or more. Do you have the crane winch already connected with hydraulic lines? I'm working on a Grove Crane winch and trying to...

    New M35A3 owner in Maine

Yes, the pilot into the flywheel is around 1.7" and the input into the tranny is 2". the slotted portion drives the pump any time the engine is turning. The 545 has a smaller tranny (slotted) pump input. Before you buy a TC for the 1545 (unless really cheap), lots of places should have...

    New M35A3 owner in Maine

I measure about 13.25 but I could have been off 1/4"... so same OD. I measured the body and it stood 6", but I did not measure the height over the input tube (to the pump). It could be 1.2" higher than the body. The input into the pump is 2" diameter. That is what is different on a 545...
