Actually, the one that failed on mine was replaced by me several years ago. The model # I purchased for both is: WA9753034730A. I hope my new one holds up better. After removing the failed unloader, I noticed some corrosion in the steel fittings between the unloader and the crossover tube to...
Turns out the problem is with the unloader. I found a replacement on Ebay for $58.80 with free shipping. Hopefully I'll receive it soon because I have a project that needs the jackhammer.
You have to be subscribed for a certain period of time to have full access. Definitely worth it though. G838.org is the best place you can go for anything related to M151 vehicles. You can send a PM to rickf, who owns the site and can explain policies. Rick is also on steel soldiers.
I have an MEP003A 10KW genset. My large house is total electric. I have zero problems with this 10kw generator handling everything. I don't have to select circuits. It handles my geothermal heat pump, well pump, washer, dryer, oven, etc. without difficulty. It consumes about one gallon per...
You need to go to the G838.org site. They specialize in M151 1/4-tons. That site will have everything you need to install your radios and a lot of expert advice. I installed the exact same radios in my M151A2 and that site was a great help. It's also a great place for anything else related...
45 miles isn't that far. Brakes are the most important. I would also make sure you have the telephone number for a towing company local to your destination that can handle your truck, in case you have problems on the way home that you can't handle on the road by yourself.
Personally, I wouldn't buy one that has already had unknown modifications made. However, since you already own it, I would try to find out who the previous owner was and try to find out what modifications were made.
I replaced the compressor head with a new one months ago and it appears to be working fine. However, you never know. I guess it is possible that the new head isn't working properly. Although the pressure regulator is holding the pressure at 106 PSI, it could also have an issue, as well as the...
I replaced the crossover tube years ago with one made from 316 stainless, so that couldn't be the problem. I went all over all lines and fittings with soapy water and couldn't find a leak.
I'm having a problem with my FLU419. Air pressure builds up extremely slow. It takes about 15 minutes to build up pressure to ~106 PSI at a high RPM. I can't find any leaks anywhere and the pressure holds once built up.
I once had an almost identical problem with my FLU419. Sometimes it would fire right up and other times nothing but a click. I went through the checklist to no avail. I was convinced it was the starter and had it rebuilt, especially after I looked at the starter, which was very rusty and...
This probably has no association with flat towing a HMMWV, but I remember decades ago that I was told that you should never flat tow an automobile or truck with an automatic transmission if the transmission didn't have a rear oil pump. If you towed a vehicle without a rear oil pump, the...
When it works, it works well in my opinion. However, I found it difficult to keep water from entering the media reservoir. Once moisture gets in there, it's all over until you clean everything out, dry everything and start over.
Why not use Gillespie paint? It sprays on really great and all colors are a dead-on match for the military paint, CARC or otherwise. I sprayed my M151A2 with Forest Green since I was planning to do a complete MERDC camo job. I liked the solid forest green so much I forgot about continuing...
I got an M116A2 trailer with my MEP003A. It has been a fantastic trailer. It pulls well and is light enough to maneuver by hand on level ground such as concrete, which makes hooking it up easy. Make sure you have the rear leg as you don't want it flipping over backwards. I also like the...
The original batteries that came in my MEP003A were 2HN batteries like Rick mentioned. My MEP003A is a 1992 manufacture, one of the latest manufactured. No way 6TL batteries would fit in my battery holder. However, I once looked at around 25 or 30 MEP003A gensets at a Gov Liquidation auction...
