And if you test the starter with it removed be sure to have a good hold on it (nowhere near the moving gear). It will want to jump pretty hard. In other words, be sure that you have a grip on it and it is not laying on top of the batteries. Put a heavy clot between the starter and whatever it is...

Very good point on low batteries. If they are marginal then the glow plugs will drain them to a no start condition. And like Scooby I rebroke ribs from pushing the limits, also did the same with an arm at a different time. Yea, I am one of those that didn't like to listen to doctors advice. I...

You say a lot of seeds came flying out?! Did you take off the shroud around the engine to make sure there are no nests blocking the cylinder fins? This is very important.

I would venture a guess that the starter issue is old frozen grease on the bendix, or none at all on the bendix. My guess is that when warmed up a bit it will work. Take the starter off and check for lube on the shaft and on the end bushings if you can access them. Unless you are restoring this...

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

Don't forget left hand threads, There's a monkey wrench for you. LOL Does your head hurt yet? We might want to get back to helping out the OP.

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

The biggest trick to the whole thing is making sure the tension wire comes off the top side of the bolt on the left down to the bottom side of the bolt on the right. Sounds easy but this is what got me every time.

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

OK, now I am going to have to drag out my tool and start practicing again. I have no idea why since I don't have anything with the required hols in the bolt/nuts. You damn guys and your ideas!

Yes to all of the above, and you have the advantage we did not have. I am SURE you could find a video of safety wire installation on You Tube.

Were those "shorts" actually bare wire touching the chassis with burn marks? Or just wires rubbing the chassis but not bare and arcing? Pay attention to what Guyfang is telling you to do. He knows more about these machines than just about any of us.

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

Ray, what they are doing is rolling the military sales into the civilian sales they have done for years. This way they can get more on the block in any given sale day. And Fuzzy, now that you mention the 25.00 opening bid I do remember that but it is so low considering what I was bidding on it...

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

Just like any other auction house, the only way to change things is stop buying, refuse to pay the outrageous starting bid price. That does happen now but not enough. They usually put the item up several times at that high price and then they lower the opening bid. Yes, I also miss the old GL...

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

You would need a LOT of capital and good government connections to get the contract. To be honest, I think they have this locked up for the foreseeable future due mainly to their extensive sales locations. All mostly built on the fortunes made from Government sales. they may be shysters' but...

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

Are the newer gensets even worth buying? From what I have heard they are like most modern equipment and you need proprietary computers to work on them. Even worse is that you need updates on the software for those computers if you could even get hold of one and you are not going to be able to...

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

I assure you that Richie Bros. is not paying the government much more than maybe 10% of the sale price to the government. Oh, I remember when you could buy a M1070 for 1,000 or less because nobody wanted them. Then Richie started selling them with minimum bids like 10,000. and they were selling...

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

A lot of new surplus buyers do not realize there is a substantial buyers fee. Now it is even more substantial, For every 1000.00 you spend it is another 150.00 for the fee. That can really add up on a vehicle or genset!!!!!

Gov Planet fee increase for bidders

Just got an e-mail from Richie Bros. They are raising the bidders fee to 15% so they can squeeze even more profit from the surplus they get for free and pay the government pennies on the dollar. I will not be buying anything more from Gov Deals or Gov Planet. Dear valued customer, We’re...

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

Right, we called it Safety wire. Being into racing I did a lot of safety wiring tying. I was taught how to be efficient by an aviation mechanic.

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

Inner tubes, conveyor belts and wire ties. How in the world did we get by without the wire ties! So much quicker and easier that baling wire. Wait, most people under the age of 70 will not know what baling wire is, so we will say Mechanics wire. LOL. Wire ties don't last as long as baling wire...

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

And DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING BUT THAT SWITCH once it is running!!!!! There is a problem and you need to find it before poking around with it running, especially with open panels. The switch is plastic so no danger there. Just because the ground is good does not mean that if you touch a hot wire you...
