Minimum thread engagement should always be 1x diameter. Ideal thread engagement is 1.5x diameter.
A standard tap for a 5/8" stud can tap a maximum of 1.23" because 15/16" is the max ideal depth and the first several threads of a tap don't cut full threads....
Ironically 5/8" nuts are only 9/16"...
I'm in Ohio and my '98 M1079 titled as an RV without a problem.
After investing $1000's in just upgrades to the basic rig, in addition to the costs of the RV components, "Historical" or "Offroad" use doesn't do me a bit of good.
Maybe a baseless worry, but once things become laws in some...
I'm in Ohio. Got my SF97 from the GSA, had a DMV guy inspect/verify the VIN against the paperwork, took his form, bill of sale and SF97 to the title office and since the M1079 is a "van" I had no problem getting an RV title without even showing the rig to them.
I picked up a hydraulic lift gate pump. It's 12vdc. The problem is using a single acting pump does not provide for a return, they traditionally activate single acting cylinders and bleed back through the pressure port.
When I get a chance I'm going to try to port the return into the vent port...
Since this has its own fuel pump, I'm curious why you didn't run off the main fuel tank?
If the pump has enough lift capability, the tank return line is a safe place to T into. The pickup is about 4" off the bottom, that way it can't run the tank dry.
