Did genesis auto parts go out of business or ?? The link doesn't work anymore, and even the main page of the site doesn't come up. Instead you get a "godaddy" advertising page, and its states "This domain name expired on 8/7/2017 and is pending renewal or deletion."
With that said, anyone know...
Yeah, this napa one has metal tanks, and now I actually would say the plastic tanks are better (so long as they don't crack like this other truck we've been using did), over the box store metal tanks, as these metal ones are flaking off alot of paint and are already starting to rust, and its...
LoL
Well... Here is my UPDATE:
I finally figured out where a "mystery" fuel line coming off the fuel filter base which I had been looking at for a week thinking it was the drain... it was a rubber hose with what looked like a piece of brake line with fitting stuck in the end and hose...
any reason not to put a temp sensor for a temperature gauge, in the same place as the idiot light temp sensor, except on the opposite head?
EDIT:
HA i got a good reason... there isn't any port there. I could have sworn I saw a plug there... oh well. I'll figure out somewhere to put it.
AH ok , forgot all about the temp for the high idle ... So thats the passenger side head?
-------------
EDIT:
Just looked at it again, has to be the passenger's side head, as there is no place on the rear of drivers side
Thanks again for the info! [thumbzup]
Ok, updated my previous post about the temp sensor, now back to the alt wiring...
Ok, I connected my digital multi-meter from the "3rd" red wire to the top buss bar (which I'm pretty sure is the 24v buss), and got nothing, no connection what so ever.
So out of curiosity, I removed the cover...
ok... its not what I thought it was....
don't mean to change the subject, but I have a temp sensor that I thought was the GP temp inhibit sensor/switch... but that is apparently the one in the block off plate adapter in the rear of the drivers head...
Now I know the coolant temp idiot light...
yeah good idea, easier than trying to trace them through the plastic.
There is the 3 red wires that I'm holding in my hand, and then the red and white wires that go into the bladed plastic plug
Thanks Ken! [thumbzup][thumbzup][thumbzup]
That is basically what I was thinking, just wasn't 100% positive. Didn't want to connect it, and end up with the "magic smoke" when I hooked up the batteries or something.
Hummm.... Ok, so the 3rd lead is not "standard issue"... I'll go back over to...
Well, you have the pos + stud, the isolated grd stud, and then a little tiny stud? I know on the drivers side the tiny stud just has a small gauge.... brown? wire going to it.
I *think* (which might be dangerous...) that the two red wires go to the + stud, and the red wire with white stripe...
Ok... I could use some help with where the wires go on the passenger side alternator...
I have forgotten, and the diagrams in the TM's isn't to helpful for me. I tried just to find a photo that someone might have taken of the passenger side alternator, but can't seem to find a good one here...
ok, well the day is getting away. Got a couple things I need to do, and then get back to work on the truck. So long as nothing else comes up, I think I can get everything under the hood buttoned up. Still got to finish wiring in the temp gauge and oil pressure gauge though, not sure if I'll get...
haha, yeah amazon always seems to have it don't they, and it is the exact one you sent. I figured it would be a generic looking replacement. I was going to try amazon next, I only tried advance auto because someone in the thread said they had them.
Thanks for the link, I'll get one ordered...
How about this one... now that I see it, I think this may have been what was on it, and it was leaking oil around the cap, so I may have put the cap thats on it now on it.
https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/edelbrock-oil-breather-cap-4403/10233411-P?searchTerm=oil+cap#
I'll take a look at the main seal, but as far as I know the only leak I did have was from one valve cover, which should be fixed with these new gaskets and sealant. And yes, I would much rather do it now while its still warm weather... as I think its going to be a bad winter this year, all the...
Wow, Ok. I'll definitely give that thread a read. Like I just editing my previous reply, After thinking about it, I'm not sure... I can't remember if I replaced that cap or not... it seems like I can remember it was leaking oil out of the cap or something... Could that mean the CDR is bad?
I...
Thanks Ken for the comments, and yeah I really hope it runs good without any further issues. If nothing else comes up, and nothing that pulls me away from working on it, I might be able to get it done today. After everything under the hood is done, I just have to finish installing and wiring the...
nope, that was the cap that was on it when I bought it. If the guy/shop who had it previously put it on there, I don't know. Didn't know there was a different cap?
----------
EDIT:
After thinking about it, I'm not sure... I can't remember if I replaced that cap or not... it seems like I can...
