Harbor freight 20% off generator sale, then 10% off with new card made it a good time to buy a generator.
5000w peak, 3900w continuous. Will fit nicely in this spot. I don't have the factory shields for this spot, will likely laser cut some custom brackets and also make it locked so not easily...
Having done this, it's really easy to update that bearing on the newer trucks without the cross member on the upper frame rail (might depend on the truck designation too). Price for the plastic bearing is ridiculous though.
Lots of places, it's called "accordion seal" (Google search) and there are various sizes available. I got mine from some ambulance supply place.

Whichever I want. I would likely pull it off the cab. Fits the same on both sides of the seal. There is a metal spring inside the rubber and you just push it on the flange.
I used two identical electrical cabinets manufactured by Hammond. They have quarter turn locks, although right now I don't have keyed ones they're just screwdriver turned but you can swap them out for pretty much any kind you want. They also have a nice rubber seal around the perimeter so if the...
Will see how it goes, my original idea was similar to this and I can still add on the feature if I find it a pain, but then I also have to worry about bracketry to support that intermediate flange when tilting cab. Not a big deal just more parts. I'm going with the assumption, the truck will now...
Yep, it just pulls off very quickly, can be put back in a minute or two. I was going to do a quick disconnect method but decided to go with simplicity and reliability.

Are the compressors the same for 3116,3126,C7?
Looks like I have an exhaust leak. Looked like it was around the manifold but with closer inspection I definitely have air coming out the vband connection in front of the pac-brake. Checked air flow with a tiny piece of fabric and air from the pac is blowing towards the deposits on the head...
Pass through is all mounted! Very happy overall with how it turned out. Have some painting, putting in some soft pads to kneel on when crawling through, and the accordion seals but that's all easy stuff. Pretty easy to crawl through and I'm 6'4" 195lb. Kids can practically run though it. The...
I think it's a wording thing and I wasn't clear. My batteries do not disconnect, I see a decent amount of voltage sag when the grid heater is on, that's also when the alternator is flashing orange. I meant the alternator "disconnected" not the batteries. I looked it up at One point but I forget...
