Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Lucky, mine just has a plug which is going to be messy. I don't recall removing the lower part of the cleaner as the oil change procedure. I think long skinny arms is the answer.

I'm glad to hear the belts fit. That radiator looks very similar to a cucv radiator. I am going to pull mine as well and have it cleaned and checked so don't feel alone.

It would be a good idea to replace them all. All I have to go by is what the TM/NSN says, no first hand experience, thanks for your confidence though.

My -34P dated 1985 shows 35", the NSN says 35", I have not replaced mine. Looks like you need the fan belts, not the water pump belts Mutt Parts are listing.

The belts on mine were so dry rotted that they just pulled off in pieces. Mark, they are a standard size 3/8 x 35(water pump) v-belt a very common size, you should be able to get them locally very easy. A common part number is 3L-350. The longer fan belts(1/2x67) are 4L670.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

I purchased a nifty Goat manual on line(DA PAM 750-31) and while waiting for it to arrive I did a search for it on line so here it is. May take a minute for it to load. http://psmag.radionerds.com/images/c/cf/DA_Pamphlet_750-31.pdf

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

No actual work on the goat itself today but managed to clean, blast and paint a bunch of parts. I ran out of semi gloss od and zinc chromate primer. I guess I need to recruit a new supply SGT. I still need to order the inserts for the rear lights and the lenses for the front marker lights...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

After work projects today included replacing the heim joint at the center diff shift linkage, pretty straight forward. I noticed after I separated the carrier that the slip shaft u joint was frozen solid and the slip shaft was frozen and not sliding. A soak in Kroil freed up the slip shaft and...
