What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Today I installed the radio shelf, and bolted on the mt-1029 mount.

    tire bolts not coming off

It could also be as simple as a valve core, and you could fix it yourself. It would still be a good idea to break all the lugnuts free, and hand tighten them with the wrench incase you need to change one out on the road.

    New Score!! Stackable Army Cots!!

aren't those litters? I've never seen a cot with a seat belt.

    tire bolts not coming off

there are left hand and right hand threads, turn the wrench towards the back of the truck to loosen each side.

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

C turbo for sure. Some whilstle at idle, one we have now sounds just like a d turbo until you step on it.

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

They sound the same to me whether an lds or ldt, take a look at the turbo itself, maybe it is not a c or d at all. Though unlikely, the owner could have done some fab work i guess.

    M416 cargo trailer for M1009

Just keep looking for a cheap m416, there are deals out there. I've got about 550 into mine, which is less an m101a2 would cost me from GL with a long distance recovery. I guess the m416a1 with surge brakes would be even safer, but is more expensive, and probably unnessecary. My 416 is on...

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

I didn't say it wasn't the coolest:), but it's extremely annoying at the same time.

    M416 cargo trailer for M1009

I understand everyone is an expert, but has anyone ever actually witnessed with their own eyes a complete hitch failure? Ryan77, you said you've seen it, what was the situation?

    M416 cargo trailer for M1009

It comes down to which you prefer. An m1009 can handle a 416 or an m101a2 in most situations. I would not tow a fully loaded m101 off road through rough terrain, but I have towed a m101a3 with 1000 lbs in it on pavement, and it handled it ok. Either will work just fine for utility use.2cents
  11. Evil Dr. Porkchop

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

With the differences in the air intake and exhaust on the deuce as compared to the multi 5 tons, the c or d turbo is a direct bolt on for an lds in a deuce, instead of needing some fab work to fit in the 5 ton turbos.
  12. Evil Dr. Porkchop

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

an lds will use the same turbos (c or d) when it is installed in a deuce
  13. Evil Dr. Porkchop

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

It should be annoyingly loud and constant.
  14. Evil Dr. Porkchop

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

You'll know when you step on it, some whistle more at idle then others, a d turbo has no whilsle at all.
  15. Evil Dr. Porkchop

Just boguht my first deuce, what can you tell me about it?

Have you heard it run yet? An lds could have a c turbo, and the 1c or 1a does not mean it doesn't have a whistler.

    M416 cargo trailer for M1009

At least try towing an m101a2 before you sell your m1009, and see for yourself. The tm also says the max speed is 55mph for all cucvs, but a civi blazer thats exactly the same as an m1009 is rated for highway speeds.:deadhorse:

    M416 cargo trailer for M1009

You can see a 416 in the rearview mirror good enough to back it up, and the tight turning radius of the blazer helps a bunch.

    M101 Series Trailer cover fitment

In my experience, the straight green covers fit nice and snug, while the camo ones are larger, and sit right at the tie down hooks.
