When my vent line was hooked up to the master cylinder I replaced the copper line with DOT nylon and left the nut on the fitting just hand tight . it was easer to get out of the way I had to wrap tape on it so the nut would not slide down .
The tee in the top of the master cylinder has a vent line that goes forward to the fire wall and where the vent came off the top of the tee is where I plugged the line

Years back I used a 55 gallon drum to move diesel turned out the diesel dissolved a thin liner inside the barrel and plugged the filters and ruined the fuel pump . When I first found that barrel I though wow it is so clean inside this will work great .
Maybe the shaft needs a speedy sleeve where it rides on the seal ?
Maybe with new bearings the gears are to tight and need a little more shims to space it farther out from the transmission ?
The gear lash has changed
Copper washers on the mounting studs under the nuts will seal the threads .
When Putting in the seal I have found that using large washers on bolts threaded in to the holes around the seal to help hold the seal square and tap it in .
The drum sit just high enough to pinch fingers when taping in the seal .
The wiper blade I'm using is from NAPA it's stainless and fits early 50's Chevrolet trucks I don't know if they still have them of not . The arms just don't have much down pressure even the ones with the springs are weak .
