That's some nice work. I noticed that your bumpettes on the back extend past the back of the M105 bed; question, did you consider shortening the back portion of the frame so that you could drop the tailgate straight down or was it done for a reason?
I have and I just looked again. It is $83. I'm not sure how well a suction pump can pull fuel up from the tank at high altitude. I plan to be using this truck in places over 11,000 feet.
I have an inline pump to assist the regular pump on a Jeep pickup, but it mount lower than the tank so that...
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I used a tire valve once to create a pressure bottle out of a 3 l. soda bottle and I was thinking about using a tire pump, actually one that was in my MKT-85 trailer. I have a couple of valves for mag wheels around; I just don't have an extra millitary fuel...
Help! I know all the issues and have intended to save my nickles up for a new Olympic pump, but I have to move my equipment starting this coming weekend.
On an M109 you have to drop the tank because of the bed, so mine is on the ground right now. I can put the bottom of the pump back together...
This doesn't make sense!!
When I was recovering my '66 Kaiser Jeep M109 from Ft. Riley, the brakes worked in the yard, but went half way down and felt mushie. I did a brake test in the gravel and went ahead had headed out towing my Bronco (My avatar pic was taken just outside the gate).
In...
Don't do this at home. We are trained professionals (See earlier comment about the definition of "professional").
PS to Kenny, I like your comment about the need for chlorine.
holy shout !!:| How far did you take it that way?
I assume the steering wheel on the back one was allowed to turn, otherwise I can't see how it would corner.
Now you should do what I did on my wife's van when she totaled out a Toyota sedan with only minor damage to her bumper, paint a Japanese rising sun flag on your engine side covers. Does it count, though, if you didn't do it in traffic?
My late father had 2 patents on trailer hitches and I did the mathematical modeling (what would be computer simulation today) for them. There are 2 primary factors in towing a trailer:
1. The location of the pivot point (the ball or the pintle) relative to the towing axle. In the case of duel...
Jump in; the water's fine.
Just remember these trucks are 40 yr. old and time takes it toll, even with good maintenance. Rubber cracks, seals weep, etc. As soon as I have money and a shop, I plan to replace all drive train seals (axle, drive shaft, etc) and rebuild all brake cylinders. My...
I found the customs papers from when my truck was returned from Iraq. I
looked up the bumper numbers and found out that it was the Arkansas NG. I
emailed them and this is what they replied:
Arlyn -
I suspect the vehicle was from Company B, 39th Support Battalion. It could
have been a...
Huh??
I was upset when I found out that my M109 didn’t have a turbo. I can’t complain, though. Being entirely new to GL and not having found SS yet, when I bid on my truck I wasn’t sure if it even had an engine.
What would you sell a complete package for?
I would suggest that you don't pay more than $35 for a pull-out pump. The reason is that the pump can sound and work just fine until the moment when it throws a brush (like mine did). There is no way to evaluate the condition of the sealed (as in welded shut) motor.
Also, beware of someone...
Talk to the guy who runs GL at Carson; it used to be Glenn Minks. They are good folks and if he knows that you are not going to abandon it, he'll work with you on a delayed pickup. I delayed a pickup at Hill AFB in Utah for 2 weeks.
As much as we rightfully have to complain about GL and the...
Don't stir up the natives
I am concerned about this, too. In CO most neighborhoods have a posted limit of 7000 empty; my M109 is over 11K empty.
In keeping with Speddmon said, I don’t intend to antagonize the neighbors because I don’t want to start something that will always be bigger than...
Not only will you have a problem, but someone else will too, most likely. A guy in a new green Chevy pickup in Manhattan, KS got religion when water got into the air on my brakes. As for me, I had to replace about 5 lb. of cotton in the truck seat after my azz puckered up tight.
Before you...
That's true; they were designed right after WWII to help German farmers get going. Now half the 3rd world countries use them as military vehicles.
In the '70s Unimog marketed a lot of configurations like that to civilians. Our county had one very similar to that one.
4k is cheap for a...
