    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Finally got the pump piston bumpers in today. Annoying to have to wait so long for something so insignificant but want to do things right. Now, unfortunately, I need someone with the hand strength and muscle coordination to be able to compress the spring enough that I can put it back together...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Glad to help out. It'd be nice to be a little closer and I could just finish cleaning the shop out. Until then, one box at a time.

    Identifing a 3-53 for a Gama Goat

Well I paid $500 for the one I got. Of course I had to make a 2000 mile round trip to pick it up so that doubled the price.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

    FMTV Cab Question

M1081 is the "airdrop" LMTV. They aren't really that rare. There have been a lot of them that sold on GP out of NC (go figure - Home of the 82nd and all). I looked at several but the added shipping helped me decide on something a little closer to home.

Looking at a 2200 mile recovery ! What would you take ?

It appears the op's wife put the total cabosh on a truck even one locally. It really has to be a joint agreement to keep a happy household. Luckily mine "forced" me to get the truck even after I had decided to use the money for medical bills. Guess I made the right choice when I decided she...

San Antonio, TX Monthly MV get together!!

Registration for Audie Murphy is 8-11. I think next Saturday is still good for the get together. We might pick up some lookers swinging through Chick-fil-a or Whataburger on their way to Cars and Coffee. Also I'm going to be doing Audie Murphy so I'm booked the 18th.

San Antonio, TX Monthly MV get together!!

This hasn't been bumped in a few months so figured I'd jump in a week early and try and get it started again. I suggest the MV guys just meet back over at Lowe's at the Rim and avoid the Charlie Foxtrot that goes on at Oak Hills with the Mustang Club. I'm there to socialize with fellow Green...

    Dan's M1081 Pick-up and Build

I second NDTs suggestion. He told me it would be about $400 to refurb mine and if he couldn't do it the only charge would be for shipping it back. Real nice guy to deal with so worth a shot.

newbie...looking to buy my first m1078

Depends on your comfort level working on your own vehicles. One of the big things these need is electronic diagnosis so you need to be more than just a little familiar with a multi-meter. If you're fine with that then GovPlanet is probably your least expensive, as far as immediate out of...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Thanks I did not know that. However, doing a google search I found similar ones available at Home Depot called "spring clips" so I'll probably go see how they measure up in size. I'd hate to order something on line and be the wrong size.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Yeh I'm thinking a standard cargo cover will be a lot cheaper and weigh a lot less.

    First recovery with the M1078

Even next to a deuce it looks huge. The cab of the LMTV is taller than the cargo cover on the deuce.
