Looking at a 2200 mile recovery ! What would you take ?

Other options is see if you can find someone to drive it for you (no I'm not volunteering). A recently separated military person with experience on these trucks would be your best bet.

Looking at a 2200 mile recovery ! What would you take ?

Lots of room for a small cooler in the cab but make sure you remove it before tilting the cab. I doubt you want to replace a windshield any time soon. Of course I didn't have as far of a recovery as you but it was about 85 out when I picked mine up. With both windows down you get decent air...

Looking at a 2200 mile recovery ! What would you take ?

I can honestly say I've met people who bought a truck off of GL with a low odometer and thought that was accurate. They ignored obvious signs of wear, like a brake pedal pad that was worn paper thin, and just couldn't believe it wasn't true. I could see them selling it as such and not...

Looking at a 2200 mile recovery ! What would you take ?

Well I'm right along your route and I have some nice, new tires if you need a set (although they're on standard LMTV rims). If you break down between Houston and El Paso let me know.

What tracked armor options do I have these day?

Get a M113 then. Lots of room for a sleeping bag. M1 tank has a pretty comfortable gunner's seat but that's a bit pricey for a doghouse :)

Looking at a 2200 mile recovery ! What would you take ?

Post your route and try and locate SS members along the way that might be able to give you a hand. Quite a few of us in TX with towing capabilities if you break down around here.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

It came in with the pulley pics and I couldn't delete it.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Yes. Scottmandu has them. From what I could tell in the schematic for the 3116 the pulley is on something that sticks out from the engine like a block or "pier" with the pulley on the very end. This one looks like it just bolts on to the head or something else but more direct to the engine...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Can't help you there. I've got a couple of pulleys for the C7 (which doesn't help me either). I haven't seen a loose one for the 3116. I'm going to see if I can't modify the one I have to work but it's not a direct bolt in.

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

And parts for the truss kit. Nice haul! After driving through Houston last week to get the LMTV I was missing those lonely WA/OR/ID roads.

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

Nice spin-on oil filter. That will make changing it MUCH easier.

Need M-1082 trailer transported Ft Hood/Austin to Arizona

The squares for the ladder are much smaller (maybe 1.5" vs 4"). This one is also further inboard from the ladder holes.

Need M-1082 trailer transported Ft Hood/Austin to Arizona

Not familiar with that one. One of the threads on LMTV upgrades shows a model that someone made themselves. The actual milspec ones are like gold plated hen's teeth so good luck finding one of those. I'm going to try and build one of the do-it-yourself models with an air actuated ram that can...

This is what the spot for the crane looks like. 4x4 square just inside each corner of the bed.

    FMTV tech notes (LMTV, MTV)

Dial the knob on the left side of the steering wheel then pull up. Same knob for tilt.

    What are these straps for

At first I thought what holds the troop seats up in the closed position but see they're actually different.

What have you done to your MKT this week???

It's not so much "overkill" as the time to set up and tear down. Of course if it's a whole weekend not so bad as it would be just to set up for breakfast :)

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

That is correct. I've bought a number of things from Austin over the years and he's only about 45 miles north of me.
