Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Well since mine is melted I could probably put it to use :)

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I believe I got the panel from MuttParts. They were reasonably priced but definitely not OEM in quality. Thanks for the offer on the hood but think I'd probably be in about the same predicament. It opens and closes so I'll live with it that way unless I just stumble across one that's near...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Keith_J stopped by today and welded up the corner of the engine cover. We got everything back in line on the cover itself but it's still bent and sits cockeyed on the Goat. Outside of being able to twist it back or replace it I'm going to have to live with it the way it is. Since the weather...

    FMTV Small Arms Mount

Could you turn the butt pocket sideways (i.e. so the magazine pointed toward the side of the cab not the front of the cab)?

    2016 TX MV Rally

Anything we need to do as far as reserving a space at the Off Road Ranch or just show up? Also could you post an address or directions for us 1st timers?

Won an LMTV M1081 out of Ft. Bragg

And you're close enough to him that he could hopefully pick it up vs somewhere like TX where shipping would kill it.

Now comes the fun part. Take pics if you can on getting that bad boy on. Ideas on bolt size/length yet for mounting?

I have joined the Goat herd

Nothing on mine but the same 2 screws. I would imagine it was some type of seal to finish closing the gap between the engine cover and bulkhead.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I wouldn't but he likes to order them because it makes me gag and he thinks its funny.

M882 stuck on New York docks.

Since I don't know the seller I can't speak to his honesty but I would hope anyone would disclose any rust in something they're selling sight unseen, especially to someone overseas that's going to the expense of shipping it. I purchased our M37 off eBay and the seller was out and out fraudulent...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Yeh I wouldn't even try. Keith_J is the expert around here with lots of alum/weld experience. I just need to be able to bribe him with lunch and hope he can clear his schedule (bleu cheese bacon burger waiting in case he sees this).

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

The other thing I worked on this afternoon was the engine cover. I pulled the reinforcement bracket off the right rear of the cover as it was obviously bent. The plan was just to pull it off, straighten it, then put it back on. Unfortunately underneath the bracket was a tear in the metal...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Wow 2 months with no posts. I'm really slacking off lately. But I guess we should have a party since it's been just over a year since starting on the Goat AND IT'S STILL NOT DONE!!! I did get the new BO Drive Guard from m38inmaine. Thanks Mark it looks GREAT! I got it painted and set it on...
