Questions about M35a2 from a noob

Don't forget they are simple to work on but if you are considering it as a daily driver I would strongly suggest a cachet of parts in your shop. You can find most parts quite easy but it does usually take a few days to get them to you. I agree with joshs1. A/C would be a waste of time. If you...

    air getting into fuel lines

I would suggest eliminating one possibility at a time. I would start with the fuel lines then tank/pump. Put the rig on flat level ground with at least a 1/2 tank of fuel. Turn your master power on and see if you can hear the fuel pump humming in the tank . If that checks out leave the pump...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Looks like Homers has the anti slip paint. It called Sure- Step by Insl-x it's 100% acrylic latex and about $ 30.00 for a gallon. Looks like it comes in a Pearl Gray. I'll run down this week sometime to get more details. IE: can it be colored, does it come in smaller quantities, etc.

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Thanks fellas, Dap sounds to me to have the best option for me using the anti-skid paint. That is of course if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If I can't find it or can't afford it I will try the sand slurry.

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

Has any one had any luck with putting that gripping material back on there fender tops and bumper. It's almost like a sand mixed into the paint. Anybody know what it is or the best way to apply it.

    Deuce Front End Alignment????

All of the NOS shocks I've seen for my A2 have been upwards of $80 to $90 a piece. Not to mention most of the NOS shocks have been sitting around for what? 10, 15 maybe even 20 years depending. They may look good when you get them but think of it this way If you went to your local parts house...

    Deuce Front End Alignment????

The alignment was $170 the shims and the camber work where $125 = $295 total. The owner was a Vietnam Vet so he loved the truck and took pity on me and my lack of funds so he only charged me $150 for everything and I promised to hand out some of his cards to my friends.

    Deuce Front End Alignment????

Oh, almost forgot. My tie rod ends, king pin bushings, drag link, and pre-load all checked out. I will pull the shocks off this weekend to check them out. Thanks Clay.

    Deuce Front End Alignment????

Okay fellas, Front end is fixed. After a few hours under her and a few bouts of Tourette's and a couple busted knuckles I decided to take it to the shop. I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have been able to fix her in the driveway. I watched and asked a crap load of questions as they unFUBARed my truck...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

Couldn't agree more. I had the same "Twilight Zone" issues with Ft. Hood. Once you get stationed there you never leave. I knew a fella from my old unit that spent his entire 12 year career at Hood. An E-6 that had never been over seas except for the sand box a few times. He even tried to...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

That's a bad a** pick. Man the driver just looks cold. You know the kind of cold I mean where you just keep wiggling your toes to make sure they are still there. I experienced cold like that in Germany as a new recruit. I thought it would be cool to wear Vietnam style jungle boots in the field...

    Newbie from Colorado

Jim has told me all about the air shows and the parades up there. I've also heard about all the cool new toys the club has. I can't wait. I am a member of Jim's club down here. It's been a little slow goin' but you know Jim, He won't give up on it. As far as the razzin' goes, I think I'll be...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

I was 2nd ID mechanized out of Lewis. We went to the Yak to shoot our tank gunnery 1995 - 98 It was the Yakima firing center when I was there as well. I can't believe you lived out there. It is beautiful country but if I remember correctly there is jack nothing out there. Of course all I ever...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

I feel ya. Try Yakima, WA in Jan in the drivers hull of an M1A1 with no heater. We had the same POS heater that the 113's did. If it worked it would cook you out of the turret. If it was dead lined you felt like a frozen Christmas turkey. My favorite time was in the early morning when we would...

    Newbie from Colorado

He did indeed. He and his wife Peggy are good people. I have been to several events with him including the Mesquite, TX air show in April and the DACA Gun and knife show last month. Wallew has had nothing but great things to say about the MVCC club so I am excited to move to Colorado and become...

    Newbie from Colorado

Welcome to the site and to the MV community. I'm in Dallas now but soon to be a Coloradan myself. My wife and I are moving to the Castle Rock area in a month or so. I would suggest getting in touch with the MVCC (Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado) They are a very active group of MV...

    Deuce Front End Alignment????

It makes sense to me. "The link from the pitman arm to the axle knuckle" do you mean the drag link? And no I haven't checked my shocks or my Front bearing preload. I would have no Idea how to check that. Is there a TM that covers it.
