I have no problem reproducing the supports you talked about for the bed of the truck. I could even repo the lifting arms if I had one to go off of. I have seen a picture of a USMC truck in Nam with the lifting arms still attached.

My DADs M135 does not have any top bows either. I think the three little straps on the front of the top are probably there for rolloing the top up for storage but im just guessing.
