You have probably seen the pic on the internet of an import truck absolutely smashed with a bungle of wood; the folks at GL at Ft. Carson, CO have a coffee cup with a picture of a small pickup that they loaded an M105 on. The 105's wheels are on the ground on either side of the truck and the...
Your problem sounds like a bad connection or a combination of weak connections. Your symptoms really point to a bad contact in the turn signal switch.
I am speaking more from working on Jeeps and Broncos, so take it for what it is worth. A deuce flasher system is identical to Jeeps and...
ida34,
DRMO in Ft. Carson, CO has an M109A3 that has been stripped; no wheels, drums, etc. The box looks good. I don't know how long they stay in DRMO before they move over to GL, but keep watching.
About a year ago I saw a Dutch truck, about a 1 ton model, that had spare tires mounted in the center on each side. The wheels were not powered, but they turned and would support weight in order to help prevent high centering. Way Cool!!
Does the spare(s) on a Ferret work the same way?
You see, the problem is that you guys are having so damned much fun with your M35s around town that I’m getting jealous. In many ways my M109A3 is not as useful.
One big question that breaks down to several smaller ones, “If I had a cargo bed (35Ax style) how difficult would it be to switch...
I know that a lot of CJ3Bs were built in Japan in the '50s. The South Vietnamese had them by the thousands. The question is were M151s ever built outside of the US?
I saw a program on the History Channel last night and they were driving an M151 around Cambodia. It had combat lights and the...
There is a place in Western Colorado where you can see for over 100 miles; all the way into Utah. It takes a 4x4 (now 6x6) to get there and my wife has never seen it in the 35 yr. we've been married. I'm a country boy and she's a flatland city girl. My deuce-with-a-box is going to take us...
RE: Re: RE: stencil size
That is exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
When our equipment was shipped to Vietnam in ’67 it was marked as per your first reference. In about July of ’68 we were instructed to repaint all of our equipment according to your second reference and they were really...
It's amazing that the machine hadn't been used for target practice.
I see that it was in Vietnam for a while. While serving as a surveyor with the 1/11th Field Artillery, I set up the firing position for a deuce mounted quad 50 at FSB Moore. They fired it on map coor’ds, just like their big...
Does anyone know where to find the spec's on painting the stars, letters, etc? I know that they used to exist because I had to help paint some trucks in '68.
What do you guys think? Maybe I should flip the lunette over.
On the serious side, I towed 2 of these on consecutive days from Ft. Carson to Denver, 95 mi., and it handled badly. It wasn't dangerous, but the trailer waggled the Bronco's tail for it. It has a lot to do with light duty tires...
A trick I use on brake lines that I don't want to tear up is to use Vice Gripps instead of a wrench when unscrewing. Sometimes even a flare nut wrench will tear up a nut. Use the correct wrench putting it back together, though, and DON'T OVER-TORQUE.
I have wondered if a bobed deuce would be legal.
We once had a neighbor that even complained to the city code enforcement when I didn't role up my backyard hose when I finished watering. I had a beat up '70 F100 that was legal, so I started parking it in front of his property next to my...
Because it's big and ugly!
If 4x4 is good, 6x6 is better!
The thing to consider is 'Where are you going to park it?' Most Home Owner Assoc's (HOA) won't even let you keep it in your driveway. 'Course, how many people live where there is an HOA? Unfortunately I do. While I was still making...
