I was at Ft Benning, Ft Polk, and Ft Lewis and find it amazing that the Nat'l Guard Museum at Camp Mabry in Austin, TX is nicer than any of those 3 active duty museums. The new Infantry Museum at Ft Benning S*CKS (although I need to thank PapaBear for taking me to visit it). Everything is...
Nice! You didn't swipe the shifter boot?
If you get a chance to go back on base swing by the south side of the airfield. The last set of barracks (old style concrete block building) used to be 2/60th Infantry. I spent several years there.
Got some GoatMail today. Problem is I think the UPS guy ate the quart of blueberries I was sure would be included. Oh well. The seats are primo enough. Compare them to the ones I had with rust fused latches and no release cables. These are as close to perfect as I could ever hope for. Thanks Mark!
I picked up an Airsoft Vietnam M60 on e*ay this weekend. It's used but looks in very servicable condition and including shipping was about $200 less than a new one. It won't be here in time for the Soldier's Angels Rodeo this weekend but I should have it for the next static display event...
Let the lying, er I mean campaigning, begin.
Here's a link to show where the Goat started earlier this year and where it's at now. The attached photos show the progress just between Feb 5 and Apr 15.

I had a heck of a time getting the socket in on mine too. I'm still debating whether to replace the pintle or not. I haven't decided if I want a tailgate with a step or to be able to tow a trailer.
Thanks! I ordered a set just to have on hand. I'll take a look at mine to see how much I really want to change them and then if I do they'll be here. If not they can gather dust in the shop until such time as needed.
Yes but even the Unit Armorer had one of those spinny pliers thingies that did the safety wire. I'm not about to try and do that with a set of vise grips.
I like it topless and windowless. It matches the wife's M37 that way.
If I found a set of top bows I might reconsider but it's a whole lot easier getting in and out of it without the top and since the top is gone it looks good without the windshield. Tactically speaking you want less...
Spent most of my time working on the M60 cradle. If I was going to do it right (which obviously means I'm not going to do it right) I'd take it completely apart and paint it. Since I don't want to have to try and mess with all the safety wire I'm just painting it as-is.
The other thing I did...
On your Blackout Drive Guard is it held on by 3 or 4 bolts? I picked one up at the MVPA Convention and there are 3 bolt holes on the guard but there are 4 bolt holes and a wire hole/grommet on my Goat. Just wondering if there is a different guard for the M151 vs the Goat.
