Not sure if the regular 2nd Saturday gig is going on but here's something for the 18th if anyone would like to attend: Soldier's Angels will be having a charity rodeo at Tejas Rodeo Co in Bulverde, TX on Sat Jul 18. I'll be there with the deuce and Goat and we're inviting anyone else out who...

    Operation "URGENT RESTORATION"

One of the current seats I have the latch body and catch mechanism look like they've rusted into 1 piece. I doubt I could get it to move with a sledge hammer. I'm looking forward to the new ones as they're about the only big parts (other then the tops) I'm missing.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I don't want to grin too much since there's no windshield. Too many bugs :)

My New Project - 1942 Ford GPW

For the most part, in this section of TX you dig post holes with a jack hammer or dynamite. I'm hoping his posts are fine and he's just restringing wire.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Five down and 1 to go. EDIT: All 6 shoes now replaced! If I can get the brake lights working it'll be time to see if I can do 60MPH on the highway.

Crewcab M923A2 Project I'm about done with.

Have you had it over any rough terrain yet? Just wondering if the closeness of the rear tires would cause any issues.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I used a wire wheel on my hand drill to get most of the rust then some 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper to polish it.

I have my first MV an M170 with a split large gun window I'm restoring, new at this,

Check the VIN on the frame rail and make sure it matches the one on the data plate. Could be someone had a data plate and title but not a jeep so "created" one. Pics would be beneficial to us "visually" needful.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Got a little bit of work on the gun mount pintle. Too pitted to get back to "original" but since it's not really critical to be a "working" unit I'm just happy to get the rust stopped and make it pivot fairly smoothly. The ammo can holder portion was also damaged and Keith_J was able to get it...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I had the single bumpers originally but they were bent up so I ordered some NOS ones from Red River. I have a couple extra rubber pieces that I just need to clean up and put on. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to put the pintle hitch back on or not. I like the tailgate step but I...

Left side tires now changed out. I also got the missing lift rings and rear tow shackles installed. Two more tires and the M60 mount and I might take a day or two off.

SF97 Question - Farm Truck Plates For Agricultural Exempt Owners

And a combine has plates? Or just a slow moving vehicle sign? Plates grant highway use (with restrictions). The INTENT of the HMMWV release is that these vehicles not be driven on the highway - for any reason. And if you're just wanting something to spread feed around I'd think there would...

SF97 Question - Farm Truck Plates For Agricultural Exempt Owners

If you're buying one of the GovPlanet HMMWVs you have to sign a document agreeing that it is for "off road use only" so to be "compliant" means you don't get any plates as it can't be driven on the road.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

The problem is, without an example you'd never fab one correctly. There is a slight angle to the pipe that doesn't show up in the photo or in the TMs. Yes I could fake it but I prefer things original if possible. See post #386 for the story of how I got it.

I have joined the Goat herd

I painted a wheel but that was it. I might get up enough energy to actually put it on tomorrow.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Turns out the 1st wheel I painted and put on has a different tread pattern on the tire. I guess I'll pull that one and keep it as a spare so I have the same tread on all the shoes. Still there's 90%+ on all 6 it's just the oddball one still had the center mold ridge so it was basically brand...
