From my experience the "S" cams aren't as touchy as the wedge style brakes . Now I will also say my m920 had brakes that would engage in 1/4 " to full locked wheels . I found my treadle assy was bad. Put in a new 1 and it stops now like my f350. Until I figured that out it was 1 scary ride !
I have only used mine down into the 30s . But at that temp I have to run mine on low because I get to warm. I'm sure if it were colder like it is now it may not be the same way? Also I have a new soft top and the truck has all new rubber and seals which help a lot to !
I would say yes you could run it without a battery and insulate the + lead. On a second note whats the thin red wire laying on the battery ? I have seen them on several units laying loose in the cabinet ?
That's what I was afraid off. Had this stupid idea that the axles sat on a arm that located them with the links. Ultimately if they sat on a arm boss, I was going to try and make offset plates to move the axles farther apart for 1400s on my m35a3. I believe I'm barking up the wrong tree now ...
Anyone have a picture of how the rear axles on a deuce locate to the rocker beams? have a weird idea. but without tearing into how my rears are mounted. I thought someone may have some pictures?
If you have to pull the axle , Its pretty easy . Just remove the bolts ( 10 ) and use a screw driver or a chisel to break the seal. The axle should slide right out .
Looks as if you may have to pull the axle to clear it. something isn't right there? it should clear? also it looks from the picture you still have a fitting in it.
here is another 1 that talks about the field flash relay . start at post 81
