We made some more progress this week. Got one cab corner welded in and also welded another rust hole in the cab. We also got the engine bay and a bunch of stuff that goes under the hood painted.

I got the gaskets for the engine today, so hopefully I'll be able to paint the cab and chassis and engine when it warms back up outside. :-)

Over the past couple days we pulled the radiator and fan, the generator, oil canister, and all the hard lines around the engine. We also removed the manifolds and carb as one piece. Hopefully we'll be able to paint the engine this weekend. Then I have to change the fuel pump and paint a few...
Didn't get too much done today, just a lot of sanding on the cab and degreasing the engine. We have to weld in cab corners and a few holes that were drilled, then it will be painted back to OD green after the body work is done.
Well, at least one is leaking, and only two of the shoes are moving, and I found a huge empty bottle of Dot 3 under the seat...

Today we dismounted all the tires from the wheels. The tires are all dated from the early 1950s and were retreads so they are being replaced with some used NDTs I bought.
We also got all of the wiring pulled and started sanding the paint and cutting out rust. All the brake drums are now off...
I bought a 52 m37 back in December and have been working on tearing it apart since then. Now that the weather is nicer I figured i'd start on thread on the restoration.
Not going for a factory look, it will have some "custom" touches like silver gauges and controls in the cab, pin stripes on...
Vinyl covers were around in the 1970's. Before there were 3 color camo cab tops and 1 piece cargo covers with super rope there were regular green vinyl cab covers and 3 piece cargo covers that used regular rope like the canvas ones.
